After the crash on 4th and King I wanted to make a video about traffic deaths in San Francisco. I didn’t think I’d ever finish, but here it is.

2024 was San Francisco’s worst year in traffic fatalities since 2006. Our city can do better and it must do better.

Just called Newsom’s office and phone lines are clear! Urge the governor to support SB79!

📞 (916) 445-2841
There's a week left for the Governor to sign bills. Phone lines open at 9am on Monday, make those calls to ask him to sign SB 79 to bring more housing near transit in California. In the meantime you can also send a message at www.gov.ca.gov/contact/
Update: had a friend just call and said there was zero wait time to talk to a live person and the whole call only took 30 seconds.

Call 916-445-2841 NOW to support SB79 and building more housing near transit

Common SF something like this should totally be possible ;-;
Chinatown will soon have its own permanent @bpl.boston.gov library branch for the first time in a generation. And the new branch will bring with it 110 units of affordable housing!

Dallas had warm weather and even warmer people, but nothing beats returning home to foggy San Francisco.

No title, just some pictures.

And if you are in San Francisco come to civic center tomorrow for an emergency rally to save bay area public transit

1. Multiple hospital systems are capitulating to Trump's threats and ending care for transgender youth.

This includes hospital systems in blue states.

Parents and youth are being detransitioned in some.

It’s a tad concerning to see “vibe coding” replace code comprehension in the workspace

Just relying on LLMs without any regard for best practices is going to make your codebase into a black box

I hope junior engineers don’t rely too heavily on this tool or this industry is cooked

🚨 In addition to banning gender affirming medical treatment through Medicaid, Trump's reconciliation bill PROHIBITS health insurance purchased through Obamacare exchanges from offering transition care.

Detransition care, though, is specifically protected. CALL YOUR HOUSE REPS!

Jedediah Smith State Park was breathtaking. A marvelous place to explore nature and admire the giant redwoods.

And personally a respite from the craziness of the world.

SEPTA is offering Muni and BART riders a preview of what we face in 2026 if California fails to pass $2B in transit operations gap funding: mass destruction of public transit.

Send a letter to your representatives and Governor Newsom today and demand funding: actionnetwork.org/letters/fund...

Joy and Anger separated by the Outer Sunset's dunes. Prop K divided neighborhoods, but I hope that one day we can celebrate on the same side as one city!

1. The Trump administration is about to release it's own anti-science "Cass Review," a sham review with pseudoscience that will be used to justify sweeping crackdowns on trans care in the United States.

No experts are involved in its drafting.

“The screenings will affect people applying for permanent residence status as well as foreigners affiliated with educational institutions.” The line will most definitely be pushed, but this is a heads up to folks who are in the PR process today.

I hate to share the news that Professor Don Shoup has passed away.

He was so kind and generous with me and I’m so fortunate know that he was proud of the work I was doing to implement his policies via @parkingreform.org

We lost a great one this week. 😢

Reading random Wikipedia articles is strangely comforting. Seeing tiny snippets of people’s achievements, geological formations, beetle species, etc… really makes me appreciate all the random shit we document and work on.

What are people's thoughts on expanding the dedicated fund compensating Small Businesses during construction projects in SF?

As an advocate, seeing snippets like this makes me a little surprised that even though so much has changed in the past 100 years the discourse over our streets have remained so similar. But then again, it probably shouldn't.
