Enthusiastic but awkward about pretty much everything. I occasionally write things. she/her

I'm out of the fog, and I'm not going back in without a fight. I'm putting down the things I don't need to carry - things I've outgrown, things that never fit, things that aren't mine, things that anchor me in places where I don't want to linger - and I'm moving forward at speed. This is my season.
Tom Morello's Cornell tribute and my blurry tour of Belmont, including such Chicago landmarks as Devil Dawgs, indifferent pigeon, and sign that kind of looks like it says, "Ho."

I also had tacos from three different places, and they were all amazing. So a pretty good Thursday.

I'm not sure what this is, but it was in the middle of a bunch of measurement shots in my camera roll, and I find it soothing to look at, so now it exists here, too.

guys, we're throwing a show!

404 Media is joining hands with community members and organizations to throw LA FIGHTS BACK, a benefit show to raise money to support immigrants and refugees as ICE and DHS continue their dehumanzing crackdown across the U.S.

When my depression’s especially bad I bring myself to the garden centre for the very good fractals. Ngl I’m tempted to buy myself a tiny Christmas tree & handmake all the decorations as a project to help my brain.🌿
PS I found that rowan leaf on the ground.

The #mantis path to self-actualization:

Sever on instinct
the head from your bad lover
then origami unfold
steel-like layers, serrated edges,
into sentient grass.
Spend the sunny hours praying.
Be at peace
with the consummation of your rage,
a knife in heaven.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

The Ecological Cost of AI Is Much Higher Than You Think - Truthdig
As the microchips behind artificial intelligence grow in complexity, each generation requires more energy, minerals and water than the last, driving a ruinous cycle with no end in sight.
