Important to point out that people do not become homeless. They are MADE homeless. And with homelessness rising from a few hundred people to over 17k in the last decade it’s clear that the government are in the homelessness business.

As days go by reports from Gaza are dwindling. There are plenty of distractions distancing us from the pain and misery in Gaza and the West Bank. Just please remember this is Palestinian land being robbed by izreel. Each and every one of them deserves to be remembered and treated with dignity. 🇵🇸🤍

So often, a judicial review has been the only way communities can defend their local ecosystems, like the wild native kelp forests in Bantry Bay, West Cork.

Now the government wants to put that avenue out of reach.

Please tell them you're totally against this disgraceful step.
Have your say by January 15 deadline.

In all our time in An Taisce, this is one of the biggest threats to environmental protection that we have ever faced. These proposed changes are clearly unlawful, undemocratic & unfair.

As Elon Musk's X continues to sink to new depths, there are serious questions to be asked as to why legitimate media outlets, government departments, state agencies, etc. etc. remain on the platform.

I wrote this last November.
Una Mullally: Media outlets need to break ties with X
The presence of media outlets on X does not have a diluting effect on the concentration of misinformation on the platform. If it did, then we wouldn’t be where we are

In what world does this make sense?

You win ur court case but are left with a huge legal bill for highlighting errors in a decision of a public body.

That's what our Gov want with new changes on cost rules in #JudicialReview #JR

Looking forward to listening to this podcast with @tonygroves.bsky.social and @fplogue.bsky.social on the Government's assault on the #ScalesOfJustice in Ireland.
👏 to Tony as always for shining a light in ghus further attack on #AccessToJustice #PublicAccountability #Environment #HumanRights
New Access to Justice podcast just dropped. Accusing @fplogue.bsky.social of being the devil at the outset is yet another example of why laughing at your own jokes should be made a crime.

Interesting thread. Fred will be back on the Shack soon. Out ASAP.
Financial barriers to environmental litigation are against the law, because protecting the environment is an important public interest.

The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment

It's worth cataloguing what has happened in the water world in the last few weeks alone.

It paints a picture of a Government who are not at all prioritising the health of our waterways, and who are failing on multiple fronts to put in place the measures we actually need.

A watery rant 🧵

Bernie Sanders: "We need to be thinking seriously about a moratorium on data centers. You gotta slow this process down. It's not good enough for the oligarchs to tell us 'you adapt.' Are they gonna guarantee healthcare to all people? What are they gonna do when there are no jobs? Make housing free?"
