Atlanta
Confirmed heathen
Fond of things that make noise melodically, people/instruments/machines. Also fond of diminutive cars, give me 110 hp, manual transmission and 2200 lbs on the scale.
The Falcons (my hometown team) have a bunch of morons for coaches and a pusscatore for a quarterback (no I’m not talking about Kurt). They’re horrible at clock management, play calling, and don’t know how to counter the opponent strengths.
They give good interviews.

Happy Sunday, race fans. My wife’s organization is launching an important fundraiser today with a 2X matching donor. If you could support my campaign by donating or sharing my link here, it would mean a lot.

Still haven’t really gotten past the loss of Karl Wallinger. For a boy that grew up 40 miles from Liverpool and clearly had a deep love for all things Beatles, he absorbed so much from the world of music, using it to express himself in ways both unique and familiar. Wonderful work, worth a listen.

Are we past the ‘half the starters no longer in the game’ point? Hate to see this end on an outfield error by a bench player.

This Autoweek article offers up a lot of specifics regarding the F1/Apple partnership.

Passed this in the hospital parking lot yesterday. Gotta love a good sense of humor.

Incredible week of racing in the Tour de France starting w/ the Time Trial, continuing w/ relentless racing into the mountains and finishing the week with the absolute frantic madness of today’s stage going into the final rest day. Props to Quinn Simmons (US Champ) for great performances daily.

Murderbot on Apple TV is the best show I’ve seen this year. If it looks interesting to you it probably will be.
This was the case for me but I found it to be so far beyond anything I expected. Sarcastic, irreverent and a lot of fun.
Or ignore this completely and carry on.

The Plumbago wants hot weather and in the right climate (Miami, South Africa, can become a six foot high shrub. Here’s a photograph posted by Doris of the beautiful small flowers that grow in clusters on the plant. Mine has to live in a large pot and come indoors for Winter but handles it well.

Anyone watching Goodwood footage?
I’m wondering if the prototype GTs Toyota brought are based on the Lexus LFA chassis?

Still thinking a little about these moments from Grand Prix viewing Saturday and I hadn’t noticed these before in quite the same way. Too busy watching cars. The opening with the old Monaco course is really good. Tabac to final corners section was straight and wide blvd with plenty of racing room.

In the ‘Take it to the max!’ department is that Lime Rock Park was built by a few guys for racing MGs and ends up hosting races for IMSA GTP.
Great track for the trucks. MX-5 race comes to mind. Accompanying photo is definitely not a G-Production class MG. Those IMSA races were awesome.

So is NASCAR currently imploding on about a half-dozen different fronts? Did we pass some unrecoverable tipping point because there’s a ton of crazy ish going on right now in and around the sport and none of it looks like racing or anything productive.

Watching a Ward Burton interview and remembering Jeff saying Ward would walk off into the woods for a month and come back having gained weight. Ward looks good and sounds . . . well, like Ward. The man is just unbothered. By anything.

Grand Prix is on TCM and it’s striking to see the difference in speed as cars top the hill into the left-right of Casino Square. The ‘60s cars almost appear to doodle into the left hander. Even ‘80s machinery came through that section blisteringly fast.

Someone in Gwinnett County (GA) government has taken it upon themselves to bring our county into the world of roundabouts. Within five miles of my house there are currently a half dozen with two more imminent.
I’ve always found Gwinnett Administration to be good but this is glorious.

Good: grass-crete
Better: safer barrier
Best: push the concrete barrier back 150 feet, pave it, safer barrier.
We’ve seen so many huge impacts there. Unless the property line is right behind current barrier there is no good reason not to put some additional runoff there. Currently woods.

Two weeks ago the Braves couldn’t get out of their own way. Tonight the finish a sweep of the Mets putting the Mets into a tie with the Phillies for first place in the NL East.
Okay. More please.

Outstanding performance by the Aston Martin Hypercar team. For them to get both cars to the finish looking clean and drama free is a huge accomplishment for a new car. Ended up with very respectable results.

What did they say was the lap count record?
387/386/385 for the podium?
I would love to see it remain this clean to the finish.
Cars focused on getting to the last few hours.
Props to the Aston Martin team, steady as a rock for both cars.
