Fond of things that make noise melodically, people/instruments/machines. Also fond of diminutive cars, give me 110 hp, manual transmission and 2200 lbs on the scale.
Still haven’t really gotten past the loss of Karl Wallinger. For a boy that grew up 40 miles from Liverpool and clearly had a deep love for all things Beatles, he absorbed so much from the world of music, using it to express himself in ways both unique and familiar. Wonderful work, worth a listen.

Passed this in the hospital parking lot yesterday. Gotta love a good sense of humor.

Beautiful bloom.
Here’s one from Friday in the garden. They do love showing off.

Plumbago?
I have to bring this inside for winters but it has done well for three years now.

So does the car make the livery good or does the livery make the car good?

Still thinking a little about these moments from Grand Prix viewing Saturday and I hadn’t noticed these before in quite the same way. Too busy watching cars. The opening with the old Monaco course is really good. Tabac to final corners section was straight and wide blvd with plenty of racing room.

In the ‘Take it to the max!’ department is that Lime Rock Park was built by a few guys for racing MGs and ends up hosting races for IMSA GTP.
Great track for the trucks. MX-5 race comes to mind. Accompanying photo is definitely not a G-Production class MG. Those IMSA races were awesome.

Snap I got lucky with of a similarly structured Fireworks Gomphrena a couple of summers back.

Highly capable phones have always been a thousand bucks. Here’s a Wired article from 1996 for a new Motorola phone.

I love music. A lot. Buying, selling, building and repairing musical equipment (especially vintage) has been a life-long hobby.
The one piece I’ve held the longest is this, made by Gibson in 1962, sold as an Epiphone Olympic, the cheapest Gibson guitar you could buy, $100. Original to the bone.

Garden starting to pop a little. Asiatic Lilies, Roses, and Coreopsis I planted last year that self-seeded like a monster from one little four inch plant off the marked down table.

Today’s spin landed on Kate Bush’s Director’s Cut from 2011. A wonderful example of the ’bonus track’ concept. All songs previously released but these versions are what might have been instead. These are very different in a most personal way. An indulgence of the artist without commercial regard.

She was indeed a special person. Always a big smile, loved getting into mischief, top of the list sort of friend. Loved racing, loved her Miata (which is now in my garage).

So I got this metal ball over the winter with a fair amount of Alpaca hair to use for stuffing. Place in in the garden hung from a cypress tree where it’s protected very well from the rain. Started noticing bits had been pulled in March. This is today’s shot, near the end of nest building.

Today’s spin landed on The Jam by Graham Central Station. Larry Graham was Sly Stone’s bassist, father of thumping/popping style of bass playing and a huge influence on Prince. Hard to point to a moment of birth for funk but Larry was certainly one of the cooks in the kitchen. So much in this song.

Let’s try this again and actually include the photo.

Likely to facilitate record changers on juke boxes which were doing this trick long before personal record players could.
Here’s my first player.

You wanna talk high quality merch? This bunch has got plenty, pulled on one of their Yaris tees earlier and midway through having a “this tee feels really good” moment. Their graphics are pretty good as well. This one has had years of wear, no holes, not stretched out, neck not quitting.

Work shot that just had a funky look to it. Looking into the beams of light there’s rainfall.
Just random shapes and patterns of light in the dark.

This is what you can do with a 26 foot long bag of helium with 18,000 watts of light inside.
An even enough spread of light that the white horizontal dashes along the pews is the light hitting the tops of hymnals and yet not washing out the beautiful light coming through the stained glass.
