I loved the Deaf representation in Episode 2 of Starfleet Academy through the character Emrin Sadal, played by Anthony Natale.

I need to say something positive about #Academy and that is even though no one really considered that Betazoids are telepaths, Anthony Natale as President Emerin Sadal gave and incredible, powerful, deep and moving performance and we can't stop ourselves from hoping he will return one day or often.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

J'ai beaucoup aimé le personnage du President Sadal dans Starfleet Academy, interprété par Anthony Natale, un acteur sourd. J'espère revoir ce personnage souvent. Et puis les costumes des betazoid sont chouettes.

I appreciate that casting for Starfleet Academy includes Deaf actor Anthony Natale.
Anthony’s character in the show is also Deaf and importantly for disability inclusion in media, the character being Deaf isn’t critical to a derived plot point … he is a character who happens to be Deaf.
