Profile pic is, no lie, taken using my phone during an aurora borealis. My main pic are the Blue Oyster mushrooms I grew in a box. Are they cute or what?! Delicious too.
Wow. Confirmation is both empowering and comforting. I’ve had a boundary for decades to be quiet if I don’t thing the other person will respect what I say. My partner led me to believe they would respect what I have to say, but I soon learned otherwise.

Obviously only a casual Cash listener but quote is amazing and reminds me I need to get more versed in Johnny Cash. I have a tendency to not realize the I’m caged in frail and fragile bars. Maybe a little, but not enough to escape.

I must also say this. I’m headstrong and in a same sex relationship, had a neglectful childhood, and know in some way I’m neurodivergent (getting that testing soon). At first I didn’t want to admit the problems because this was the first time I felt elation with a person. I’m normally antisocial.
Amazing episode and so much truth. I know I’ve got issues, but helping me know I’m not crazy for thinking there are issues in my relationship . I’m still in it but I need reminders I HAVE to move on for my well being. Here, Hot Pocket Whore I can identify to.

Our friend who was kidnapped by ICE is being processed for deportation as I type this. His lawyer quit during the shutdown and he was left to face a phoned-in "hearing" alone. His asylum case was summarily dismissed and he will be gone by Monday.

Play something “dumb”???!!! Granted, I was a pre teen when first released and Aa few years later I choreographed a jump rope dance for gym class. Several decades later this song ended a series I unexpectedly became obsessed with. This song will ever be with me.

Not ready for these deep dives, still at the “get writing” level, but gotta say taking all the other ppl podcasts in and seeing the deep dive courses, take these before spending tons on a “higher education” course. Finding education like this is one positive thing about the internet.
Our new course, 'How to Get the Reader Onboard,' is on sale now for just $97 (save $50). Limited time only.

The course is taught by the great Steve Almond ('All the Secrets of the World').

Listen anytime, anywhere—online or via the DeepDive app.

@maryrobinettekowal.com thanks for plugging David Sedaris’ Masterclass. Wanted to sign up for years but talked myself out of the expense. Finally signed up found other classes are great, but David’s class is even better than expected. The man and the process behind the essays, so much to learn.

As a writer or not, this is amazing and what I needed now. I want to get deeper and have autofiction novel ideas, but shorter works will help me get going. Either way, this is truely a masterclass.
By the end of the year I will be getting @deepdive.audio auto fiction course. However I’ve been feeling like I need to learn how to write about some of my moments and experiences with humor like David Sedarís, so doing this first. Now I just have to write.

Oh, I love this. A new species of sea anemone was discovered recently that parks itself on top of a hermit crab shell like a hat. It seems to feed partly off the crab's faeces, but it also excretes a hard shell that extends the crab's home. In return, it's carried around the seafloor like a king.

In addendum to the last post, after learning a co worker loves Halestorm, I had to admit I identify to the line in this so g that “I love a kick in the face”, mostly referring to my 30 year personal relationship but thanks to that, its no longer a big deal at work

FYI. I am focusing on personal feelings a lot, and while the political climate is important and currently dark, it seriously doesn’t improve my place due to my personal and current “spousal” relationship. Naive me 30 years ago thought I’d be safe in a same sex relationship, but wrong either way

Whoa, this book in general has been hard to get back in the day, but didn’t realize the value of #djunabarnes today. And yes, this is on Amazon and the hardcover is a little out of my budget. But glad I can get an affordable version as a first read/listen.

Not ready for a deep dive into this yet, but come Xmas/Winter Solstace/New Years I’ll make the plunge (feel free to remind me @bradlisti.bsky.social lol).
'How to Write Autobiographical Fiction' is now available.

It's an 8-hour intensive taught by acclaimed author Hannah Pittard, author of several novels, including 'If You Love It, Let It Kill You.' The course also features Michael Wheaton, founder of Autofocus Books.

Just finishing. Great listen.
Tomorrow on the show, I'll be talking w poet Donika Kelly about her new collection, THE NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS, an evocative cycle of poems that have much to do w happiness and love and embodiment, & what it's like to experience these sorts of things on the other side of a darkness.

Stay tuned...

Love their covers, and googled to find Nick and Evan are collaborating on a folk rock album! Can’t wait. While I have super eclectic tastes and had a weird obsession with KISS since childhood (too complicated to go into right now), this is more up my alley.
