I just called Chuck Schumer’s office and, for the first time EVER, a person answered, who then politely entered my complaints into their call log.
This tells me two things:

A livable future has to be anchored to "public goods shared in common and distributed to everyone.” That's socialism so USians are mostly allergic to the idea and to me THAT is what needs to be changed and addressed.
