Also, because SNAP is used to buy food, the economic benefit is the same no matter who uses it. Every $1 spent on SNAP generates $1.50 of economic activity. Loosening requirements and getting more people on SNAP would arguably save the government money.
i hate when people say that some people "abuse" snap benefits bc it's food. if youre eating the food then you're not abusing the ability to buy food. even if you could afford the food but you're getting it for free, it's fucking food and it's going in your belly! there is no "waste"!

Hegseth is now threatening to send the Marines to LA to suppress protesters against ICE’s brutal assault on immigrant garment workers.

Just process that: Sending in the *military* to crack down on protesters.

We’re now at severe risk of martial law. That’s what they’ve wanted all along.

Correct. This should be *THE* national story right now.
There is no bigger story right now than the White House asserting that California residents are in a state "of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States."

This is the second day in a row that federal agents shot us both
Reporters @acatwithnews.bsky.social and @ryannemena.bsky.social were both just hit in the head with less lethals and tear gassed at the anti-ICE protests in Paramount, CA.

Both seem to be mostly uninjured, if a little battered, checking in now. @adamrose.bsky.social

Now Hegseth is saying that the active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton are on alert to come in if the National Guard isn’t enough.

The U.S. government is ready to unleash our own military on civilians.

The crackdowns on civilians and the threat of the national guard being sent to LA should be *the* most important story right now-- not the Trump/Musk feud or whatever the f**k that was.

People are being terrorized all over the country. News outlets need to get it together.
