Lila is a fox. A clever trickster, but also noble and benevolent.

Tell us your Main Character's fursona/what animal they would be.

Is your character already an animal? What human job would they have?

Nope. I can barely walk anywhere without tripping over inspiration. I need multiple memos on my phone to keep track of all my ideas.
Writers, do you ever fear running out of story ideas? This is one fear I don’t have #writingq #WritingCommunity

Two truths and a lie:

1. I've personally met Sidney from Echosmith and was praised for knowing all the songs on "Talking Dreams."

2. I was the only boy on my high school's cheerleading squad.

3. My favorite Goosebumps book is "The Haunted Mask."

Corporate-style icebreaker jump scare 😱: tell us a fun fact about you, the author!

This is meant to be fun, so if "fun facts" make you cringe, feel free to adjust this prompt. You could do two truths and a lie, or just give us a non-personal fun fact that brings you joy.

Calling it now! #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding Season 6 is gonna be a banger!

I already have a theory about what's going on, but it involves a spoiler for the end of Season 5.

As a detective and a mystery fan, Lila does appreciate a good surprise.

Does your character enjoy surprises? Or would they prefer that things be routine?

Would they enjoy a surprise party but prefer no dangerous surprises? Or do they crave the excitement, even when there is risk?

Lila is very responsible. She'd make an excellent house sitter. Plus, her skills as a detective mean she could track down your missing possessions.

How likely is it to end badly if your character is asked to house-sit?

Will they take good care of the pets and water the plants? Throw a party? Accidentally burn the place down? End up in a fight somehow?

"The Woman In The Library" by Sulari Gentill. It's about an author in Australia sharing chapters of her current WIP with an American pen pal. Between chapters of her book, we get little snippets of their correspondence, during which she begins to suspect he's a serial killer.

The Archwizard Emero helped the Goddess Kelestra seal away the rogue fire God Tezzar and was rewarded with immortality. However, the spellbook he used to cast the spell took his magic as payment, so now he spends his eternal life teaching others.

Hello, #NovemberWorldbulders! This week’s theme is GOOD and EVIL where we share morality in our fictional worlds. Today's question is about HEROES from the past. Do you have any characters who lived and performed acts of heroism before the main story starts?

Lila prefers casual clothing to dressing up, but The Magpie teaches her to appreciate the value of a good disguise.

What is your character's opinion on fancy parties?

Do they like getting dressed up and glad-handing?

Would they rather stay home in their pajamas?

Are they planning a heist while the guests are distracted?

Damn right. LLMs serve no purpose in the arts except to undermine everything that makes art what it is.

Support human creativity.
I will never use AI for my covers, editing, translation, or anything else. It is not only useless to me as an author, it is actively hostile and harms every skill related to book production.

If you're an author against AI used to generate writing, you better back everyone else in the chain too.

Lila lives by the adage that a messenger of peace shouldn't carry a sword. Denala would counter that just because you bring a message of peace doesn't mean you don't need to protect yourself.

How does your character feel about violence?

Are they a committed pacifist? Generally gentle? Dangerous if pushed too far? An unrepentant killer?

Does that change as the story progresses?

Lila would be a fox. Foxes are commonly depicted as clever tricksters, but some folklore also depicts them as noble and benevolent. Lila embodies both aspects.

Depends on the story, but generally my stories stick to a core cast of about two to three major characters. I'm not really sure why.

How many core characters does your story have?

How many of your cast would you consider central to the story, not side characters?

Are they usually together or does the story have multiple locations at once?

I intended to adapt a public domain character as part of my supporting cast, but then I found out that Archie Comics had a similar character with the same name. So I changed her name from "Penny" to "Angie" and gave her a line about how her father, Archie, won the name debate.

Lila would tell stories about the mysteries she's solved while her sister Lisa gave color commentary. Denala would talk about the fundamentals of magic. Amber would tell her story about her stay in Ashmere. Lila would be skeptical, but Denala would point out that magic exists.

R.L. Stine and K.A. Applegate. I was a lonely kid who didn't really fit in at school, so the common trope of "friends teaming up against evil" that both writers liked to use appealed to me.

Or do you think about them at other times and in other situations, even if you never write about it?
