In Super Mario 64, parts of Lethal Lava Land are actually made out of leather, which simply appears to be stone due to the low resolution of the textures.

age verification based on facial scan

what could possibly go wrong
Twitch is officially releasing age verification in the UK.

Users will need to verify their age using an in-app facial scan; otherwise, they will lose access to watching mature content based on Content Classification Labels (CCLs).

when you go to such lengths as pulling out a disassembler and hex editor to fix a bug in your app

only to find out you had already fixed it

• Advanced settings
• Uncheck "Let YouTube enhance visual quality"

competent UI design: half the screen space consumed by a cookie banner I can't even dismiss, because another UI element is covering the buttons

A Silicon Graphics 'Indy' workstation. I used one of these for Nintendo 64 game development. A great machine with awesome OS. The N64 development board fits neatly inside the blue case. Such a shame SGI are no longer around. Great hardware, with a great price tag!

more fleshed out version of the AR cheat code import dialog.

layout details may be fixed up, tweaked, ... but the basic idea is there.

thoughts?

LinkedIn be like "how many years of experience do you have in Design?"
neurotypical fuckers are always like "autistic people have trouble following directions" and then hand me a form that asks if I have a history of bike helmet

not sure, now.

the right design is clearer -- added group frames on the left, and a label to explain the code list.

however the group frames might be superfluous and wasting screen space.
October 25, 2025 at 6:21 PM
hahaha. UI design is fun

why the fuck is that label fucking up in the one situation where it would fit entirely in one line

different design for this cheat import dialog

* game entry list becomes a combobox - having it take up an entire side felt wasteful
* code description and info will go to a dedicated frame
* splitter thing is resizable (in theory)

upcoming melonDS feature: importing cheat codes from usrcheat.dat

this list shows entries relevant to your game (it works by game code). the checkmark shows the "recommended" entry (ie. CRC match). we're still unsure about the ideal symbol for this...

still gotta code the other list

thinking back on µblock and the other extension I have that gets rid of cookie banners/popovers

I want an extension that recognizes "subscribe to my newsletter" popovers and feeds the webmaster's email address into them in the background

or whatever garbage as long as it pollutes their database
October 11, 2025 at 12:10 AM
this this this this

it's priceless to be able to adblock every stupid widget. I wish it could also un-disable scroll (for stuff like SUBSCRIBE!!!! popovers that inevitably disable scroll).
I think more people should use ad blockers, not just for anti-tracking, but using the "block element" feature on websites to remove annoying garbage is a must.

Like, just shoot the AI overview in google, send it to the shadow realm, you never have to see it again.

Also DNS sinkholing, do that too,
