The Associated Press is now apparently prioritizing Russian place names for Ukrainian towns. The town in question is called Pokrovsk, regardless of what the Kremlin may or may not prefer - suggesting otherwise legitimizes Russia's invasion

If Europe gives back the Russian frozen assets, it'll be pretty ironic when Russia uses that money to rebuild its military and attack Europe.

I've just finished War and Power and I can highly recommend it! Well written, very enlightening, a good read from an expert in war studies.
Ernst Fränkel's historical analysis of the degeneration of the rule of law in Nazi Germany seems likewise true for the USA under Trump. The legal system in the Third Reich didn't just stop functioning. It was pushed in a zone of unchecked violence and arbitrariness.
This is what Ernst Frankel, a German-Jewish lawyer & political scientist living in Germany during the time of the Third Reich, calls the dual-state model of justice. The normative state and the prerogative state.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
