The surveillance dragnet trend under construction for decades is coming to fruition on a global scale.
As Iranian authorities restore some online services after crushing antigovernment demonstrations, they are using a technological dragnet to target attendees of the protests. “They can follow you to the streets,” said one researcher. nyti.ms/3MFsyQM

some explanation as the article doesn't really provide any:
1) the overpopulation is >20x than a healthy ecosystem for the land acreage inhabited
2) that density means deer eat all tree saplings, shrub & native seedlings, & our forests can't regenerate/will die
& 3) also breeds disease for the deer

Went in my bag last night — after many drinks, even — to discuss “cooling out” in our current decayed and captured opportunity structure. I don’t think the other side realizes how much credentialing pacifies social unrest…

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.
More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

One of every thousand American residents has been taken into custody by ICE in the last year.
A stunning detail the ICE chief shared in this hearing that was supposed to be a brag, except it isn't: ICE has arrested 379,000 people between Jan. 2025-Jan. 2026 -- but only 8,700 were suspected gang members or known suspected terrorists.

That's 2%! www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...
