No, you're crying watching clips of Clayton Kershaw getting his 3,000th strikeout.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I promise not to become a fitness influencer (though if I start posting thirst traps, know they're all antifascist), but I had my first leg day as part of this process and I'm not sure I'll walk again hahaha people do this

A dear friend started what I hope will be a long series of video essays on film. Here's the first of his essays, on pastiche:

Directors keep putting actors the love of my life crushes on so that she wants to see the same movies as me and it's the best! Like she actually wants to the Edgar Wright The Running Man remake with me 🤯

Human.

I've long thought it in conversation with Yeats's 'Among School Children.'

'Are we human or are we dancer?'

'O chestnut tree, great rooted blossomer,
Are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?'
Without saying Mr Brightside, fav The Killers Song?

I went to B&N earlier this week for the Criterion Collection sale this month. I was bummed I couldn't find Sorcerer on 4K which was the main reason I went, but then the guy behind me in line had a copy and I asked about it and he said there was one left and he went and got it for me.

"It strikes often at the end of a day, when I am reviewing some work I have just written, and I find myself thinking that it is not writing that I have done. It is speech, or air, plain air. It is zero. It is a gesture, a sign, an indication of writing."

Something I like about all the lit bros is how they seem hard edged and caustic online, but if they share anything from their life or you encounter them irl, they're all soft boys, slightly effeminate, who just want a snuggle from their kid or their cat or their dog.

Knowing the smartest, most creative, most generous, most compassionate people around the country and the world, and jumping on the occasional video call with them to bask in their presence and them caring at all about what you say too, it's not bad.
