“Israel has been calibrating hunger in Gaza for decades, initially calculating shipments to exert pressure without causing starvation…”

But no more.

Devastating reporting from @theguardian.com’s Emma Graham Harrison on the grotesque calculations behind Israel’s engineered famine.

Please read.

I welcome the UK Government’s commitment to recognise the State of Palestine, but it shouldn’t be subject to conditions.

It must be unequivocal, irreversible and backed by sanctions on Israel.

Israel must agree to a ceasefire now and allow more aid into Gaza to stop starvation.

Keir Starmer last week defended his U-Turns on disability benefits as being "common sense", having listened to the "concerns" of Labour MPs.

Now some of the very Labour MPs who expressed those concerns and demanded those "common sense" changes are being suspended

🚨 We’re shocked and disappointed.

The UK government has pushed through HUGE cuts to Universal Credit for disabled people applying in the future.

These cuts will be devastating. They risk pushing even more disabled people to food banks.

@jessasatomp.bsky.social Please protect disabled and vulnerable constituents from inhumane impacts of the proposed welfare reform Bill. Desperately hoping that you will sign the reasoned amendment and vote against the reform Bill.

❗ 1 in 6 people referred to food banks in our community are carers.

When you're looking after a loved one, you should NEVER have to worry about whether you can afford food and essentials.

Our social security system should be there to provide support to carers. 💚 #CarersWeek

It’s overwhelmingly mothers who fight these SEND battles, who leave their jobs, who have their lives turned upside down, & who keep on fighting for others

I wonder if the No10 strategy and comms bros who’ll sign this off have clocked this
This is a full page in The Sun. It's going to be an interesting summer.

We need to be absolutely clear about the human cost of this policy.

More ambulances stuck outside A&Es. More patients dying in hospital corridors. More suffering. More misery. More patient harm.

Because Starmer has chosen to prioritise cheap headlines above improving society.

Way to go, Labour.
Today's performative clampdown on migrants will gut our care homes of desperately needed staff.

We are *already* short of over 150k carers.

Banning foreign care workers will only exacerbate this - increasing suffering of society's most vulnerable members & pressures on the NHS.

It's madness.

PM says 'we get it' and will go 'further and faster' in delivering change.

He might like to start with the new terms of ref for the Casey commission on social care - with its recommendations to be phased in over 10 years. And maybe not cut disability benefits.
