If you need it to live, it’s a human right. BLM & trans rights. Disability advocate, a mother, rhetoric PhD student, docs writer. Reader of physical books. Opinions ONLY mine. Stroke led to Wernicke's aphasia, other neuro issues.
IT WAS THE WRONG VERSION OF PBE. I NEEDED 3.5+ and GOT 1.0. Aughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I've wanted to do this for 15 years

I can validate this by telling you honestly I wasn’t given the choice to take geometry in HS but DID have to take AP calculus anyway (or I didn’t graduate).
Convinced the underlying theory of math education is flawed just because of how many people have bad, almost-traumatic experiences around it. So many lesson structures:
• Abstract example of principle
• [Optional often-omitted clean example of principle]
• Principle with EXTRANEOUS SH_T tacked on

I wonder if the character who played Enzo in Season 4 knows he’s named after a college pizza joint.

the real horror of tech debt is the piles of our crap from 30 years ago is still on some server somewhere, decaying and now so out of context it's like the words were never real at all

Don’t recklessly clean your kitchen knives. I wasn’t careless, but I wasn’t careful. And now it’s gonna be annoying to write for a week.

Asking about the relationship with my father. It's a flag for red pill bullshit, and also my dad is long gone.

Lie about how tall you are on your dating profile.

A few things folks in the southeastern US who aren't prepared for this from lessons in 2002:

- Let your sinks run a tiny bit during the night. It helps prevent pipes bursting.

- If a chore needs doing and uses electricity, do it today.

- Layer, layer, layer clothing.

The amount of times I quote tMG's "Superdeep Borehole" to Birdie and it's appropriate.

Today's was, "Keep a sense of wonder when you finally reach your goal."

I let her catch the laser pointer dot.

For the purpose of telling the Feds, I have a spreadsheet with all my doctors (six plus the two mental health providers) and their contact. I have 14 medications I’m directly prescribed. That doesn’t include supplements. I have the medical codes, doses.

It exists as a local copy only.

And there’s an element of addiction. The only thing that changed this for me was replacing it with a different sensation (equally intense) and a different source of dopamine. I settled on ice water to the face, then sugar.

I had to treat it like breaking an addiction to escape it.
What many don't understand-- because it freaks them the hell out-- is that self harm behavior (up to & including suicidal ideation) often serves a regulatory function for trauma survivors, rather than being an expression of self-hate. (Though, yes, that's a thing, too.)

I don’t have the words for all of it, but Hanford was probably the cause of all of it: the early chronic problems (1995-2003), stomach and fatigue problems 2008-2021, having both a severe infection and long covid, and all the new illness crap since.

It ties it all together with a giant ribbon.

I asked Google Gemini to tell me who C. L. Simpson was and what he did with the PNNL, and I cried so much. It knew. It gave me papers. It told me what he would have done. It said his learning beginning in the third grade (he was an orphan) and how he made it so far anyway..

(I am looking to move on.) Most unhinged recruiter email response:

“I’m going to be at a funeral. My phone will be off all day.”

“I just need five minutes .” Fine. They want my resume. Fine.

Receive a series of edits to my resume they want done now and resent.

FUNERAL.

They’d be a nightmare.

Accessibility is a required part of good user experience anyway. For devs like OP and documentation people like me, a11y has great guidelines on this kind of thing.
Hey, new folks!

Let's all work together to make sure Bluesky is as accessible as possible. Please add Alt Text to all your images and GIFs. (And maybe even quote-skeet pics to add Alt Text instead of just reskeet)

Go to your Settings->Accessibility and toggle "Require alt text before posting" On.

Elizabeth is getting good at and interested in video games together. I freaking love it. We’re playing Animal Crossing side by side. We shared our fruit.

I forgot S3E1 of Stranger Things included using a real road in town where there does seem to be a nearby Motel 6 (where Billy suggested he hook up with Mrs. Wheeler).

The intersection of Cornwallis and Erwin are right where the “Mirkwood” part of town is.

I took a nap and woke up in the last few minutes of the day. Not much had changed. The cat curled up.

Dying was so recent. Celebrating means more now.

But it’s been used to weaponized holidays and exclude only me.

I still spent it eating leftovers in the dark alone.

I came to post about how my birthday was forgotten even by my whole family, and Bluesky asked for an age reassurance to really make me look at it, yes, yes my birthday is today. Thanks EULA agreement.

Everyone is asleep cats included. It’s okay. It’s just another day, really.
