I wrote my congressman this morning, after my anger subsided a little. I told him I couldn’t care less if we funded the government. It isn’t our government anymore, anyway, so why should we pay for it?

We lost our beautiful Jackson on Monday. The sun hasn’t come out since then. All the days have been gloomy, damp and cold. It’s like Nature is mourning with us.

Our Jackson is living his last days. I thought he would make it to 15, but that hope is pretty dim now.
We are counting good/bad days, and when the bad ones outweighs the good, we’ll say goodbye.
He’s had quite a life, and he taught me everything I know about how to work with a fearful dog.

Nobody asked if people were legal. Who cares? They were all awesome. I miss that part of my life, living in a rural red county where diversity is feared and reviled. 💔

I had Puerto Rican moms making me Puerto Rican rice for dinner when I had to work late, and Greek sisters making me homemade baklava on a platter. I got to learn different cultures, and meet proud parents.
We had fun. I promoted many staffers who deserved their positions.

By far the hardest workers were the POC. The naval spouses were lazy and useless and I ended up firing many. Yes, we still had to deal with the gangs, but I always felt safe there, my staff was so friendly and treated me like family.
