Our Jackson is living his last days. I thought he would make it to 15, but that hope is pretty dim now.
We are counting good/bad days, and when the bad ones outweighs the good, we’ll say goodbye.
He’s had quite a life, and he taught me everything I know about how to work with a fearful dog.

Mia is my second. My first, Pepper, was 15 1/2 when she died. Smartest dog I ever knew. Miss her like crazy.

Mia always appreciates the cheap squeaky balls. This one was $10. We call it “boop” because I can boop her on the nose with it.

Thankfully there haven’t been any since (knock on wood). I don’t think I could take it.

We lost our Sam a week ago today. We don’t know how old he was, he was with us for six years.
He was deemed not adoptable because he was a bite risk and somewhat dog aggressive. The shelter who rescued him trusted us to give him a good life.
He will be sorely missed.

Mia has figured out there is something seriously wrong with mom. In true cattle dog form she has taken to watching me like a hawk 24/7. She even sits up in bed in the middle of the night and watches me when I have trouble with pain. She won’t leave me alone for one minute.

12 days out from knee surgery, and my kids are still angels. Who could think two 2 year old herding dogs could be so in tune to their mom’s temporary disabilities? They don’t get too rowdy, they are careful when approaching me, and spend most of their time sleeping or lounging near me.

Today is better, virtually no pain. Can’t wait to be in my own bed, in my own house.

Took me six tries to get Teddy calm enough to pose. At just 2years old, I guess that’s the best I can expect. At least he isn’t trying to taste the ornaments today.
