If Goodwin is considered too much of a racist reactionary to be an activist for the racist, reactionary Reform UK, but not too much of a racist reactionary to be intro'd as anything other than a 'presenter, former professor & author' by BBC QT, then what type of organisation does that make the BBC?
Reform UK accused of embracing racism over its pick for head of student organisation
Matthew Goodwin argued people from minority ethnic backgrounds born and raised in UK were not always British

Just want you to know that when I asked Geoff why he gave the silent treatment to an open letter written by his own "future of games" program (& co-signed by 3000+ industry peers), he replied:

"Because that's my show and nobody gets to tell me how I should use my platform". 💀💀💀

I see John McDonnell is writing in Tribune about the need to "revive the Labour Left" and because I'm a petty idiot I remember all the people pretending he was a radical and saying "arm John McDonnell!" between 2015-2019 (and after)

the linked article in this post is fascinating. I am not Irish but I am a Gael and since it's natural for us to talk of "Gàidhlig na h-Albainn" and "Gàidhlig na h-Èirinn", I do usually find myself saying Irish Gaelic when speaking in English.
reminder that those who complain about people calling #Irish 'Gaelic', rarely do anything else for actual language rights (apart from bringing this up). it also shows their ignorance. they don't really care about the language...

good in-depth piece: irishlanguage.ie/gaelic-gaeil... #gaeilge
Can people call Irish, Gaelic? - IrishLanguage.ie
In short, yes. Saying ‘Gaelic’ for Irish is ok and you can use it. That in itself doesn’t seem like a controversial statement but say it in Ireland or

Tomorrow's Remembrance Day! Looking forward to it, we always make a big bonfire in the garden and burn the Unknown Soldier in effigy. The fireworks are sort of hard to see at 11am though

Just finished The Séance of Blake Manor and it's a nice wee game for the most part (fun and compelling slightly spooky detecting and investigating). It occasionally gets a bit too silly for me (exacerbated by some of the confrontation mechanics) but I found most of the characters interesting

When a retired general said in a TV interview ~4 days after Corbyn became Labour leader that if Corbyn became PM there'd be a military coup Hinsliff et al treated as completely normal.

They just absolutely could not concieve it being said about a politician they like/benefits them.
Where might the public have got the idea that it’s fine to talk about people as a vile cancer that must be excised and eradicated, or as traitors who must be showered in the hot piss of public contempt and ruthlessly crushed? Have they seen notable examples of respectable people behaving like this.

what is it that makes the fascists of today different from yesterday? who are they? why do they seem to love america so much? the answer is, ANGLOFASCISM. The answer is in Britain and in Austria and in Engelbert Dolfuss. lets learn
ANGLOFASCISM
In 1933, Austrian chancellor Engelbert Dolfuss, a short, generally unpopular man, founded a political party. Out of right-wing militias, traditional conservative parties, and landed estates, he put together an organisation called the Fatherland Front, which ruled the tiny, dysfunctional Republic of Austria (rechristened the Federal State of Austria) for five years until 1938, when Dolfuss’s successor Schuschnigg was removed from office during the Nazi…
