Bacteria with archaella, who would have thought that this existed. Happy to share that it does 🎉and we just published it today in @natmicrobiol.nature.com 🎉🥳. Congrats to everyone involved! 🦠

Who would have thought I would ever publish an article about a bacterium?
But here it is, but of course only because Litorilinea aerophilum actually has an archaellum!

Here is what we learned about its cell structure and other surface appendages:

Filamentous growth, cell envelope architecture, and surface appendages of a member of the Chloroflexota, Litorilinea aerophila
Litorilinea aerophila, a filamentous bacterium of the phylum Chloroflexota (class Caldilineae), exhibits unique morphological and cell envelope features that challenge traditional bacterial models. In...

Congrats to Ankita Banerjee from @archaellum.bsky.social's lab & #ARCTECH for winning the VAAM poster award! 🏆 She studies how Sulfolobus acidocaldarius protects itself from UV damage using pili & DNA exchange- understanding archaeal stress responses!

Asgard archaea have actin - but what about microtubules? Where do they come from? 🧐 Our new paper www.cell.com/cell/fulltex... by @xujwet.bsky.social & @florianwollweber.bsky.social, in collaboration with the Schleper & Wieczorek labs, describes tiny Asgard microtubules! #TeamTomo #ArchaeaSky 1/6

Here we go 🥳🦠 #ARCTECH
Exciting news! 🚀 We're launching #ARCTECH, the first EU-funded MSCA Doctoral Network focused on #archaea —a fascinating and resilient domain of life with great #biotech potential.

By addressing key gaps in archaeal research, we aim to unlock the vast potential of these #microorganisms. 🦠🔬

So here it begins 😋🥳
Very happy to be a part of this research and beginning my journey in Archaeal molecular biology.
A special one as it includes both my previous and current labs!

Thanks a lot @aglab-2024.bsky.social and @arghya93.bsky.social for introducing me to this exciting world!
