Gave up posting my personal thoughts and opinions on Twitter so now you get them here instead 🙃 Welcome to the secret little club away from the 45K.
Man, I really built my NAS at the perfect time. Bought all the parts for it on Jan 3rd. The drives were a little more expensive than normal but nothing like what they've ballooned to now. Got very lucky!

Did not expect to love The Bone Temple so much. I have a whole thread on why I despised the second half of 28 Years Later, and those are very much the foundations of Bone Temple. I shouldn't like this! Turns out when you discard the worst beats and reframe the others, you win me over. What a film!

Watched Rental Family tonight. I found it more interesting than good, honestly. I enjoyed the focus on loneliness and the need for connection fine enough, but the way it handles Japan's darker cultural edges is so frustratingly wishy-washy, and that massively dampened my enjoyment overall.

Spent the past month going back through Stranger Things Seasons 1 to 4 before finally watching the final season yesterday. While that was certainly the most uneven season to date, its finale felt right, and it's a testament to those many seasons of stellar character work that I was in pieces.

This is a complete misunderstanding of what I said, which is that I wouldn't be shocked if GTA6 *does* come out this fall, following the same delay pattern as RDR2.

Of course another delay is possible. It's a video game. But this blog post is very misleading (just reach out to me - it's not hard!)

Wrote about how Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc mixes the irreverent spirit of TV animation with insane bombast, making it a representative work of anime's current paradigm but with limiters off. Between that & its addictive tragedy, it has become the movie of the moment blog.sakugabooru.com/2026/01/06/c...

My media log for 2025! Not quite as many things as 2024, but significantly more varied. Curious to see how 2026 will be. As you can see by the dates, I go through huge periods of consuming absolutely nothing because my mental health just dies and I lose all motivation. Hopefully that'll improve!

The worst part about Pluribus season one is that it is over, and now I have to wait for season two. What a great show.

I know a lot of people are tired of hearing about Expedition 33 by now, but I held off on posting my thoughts despite playing it day one - mainly because it ended up meaning so much to me that talking about it felt uncomfortably vulnerable. But I have to say: I think it's a generational masterpiece.

Reze was far and away my favourite arc from Chainsaw Man's first part, so I had extremely high expectations for the movie. Honestly, that’s as perfect an adaptation as I could’ve ever hoped for. It's the manga come to life and then some. It hits every nuance perfectly and with real finesse.

Slowly collecting personalised prints from performances that mean the absolute world to me. Managed to get Laura Bailey and David Hayter this month! I got Jennifer English for BG3's Shadowheart a few years ago, but would so love to get her and Ben Starr together for an Expedition 33 one someday.

BRAVO VINCE. Insane debut two episodes from Pluribus.

Go in as blind as you can if it's not too late.

It's so startlingly different in tone from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, but you can feel the DNA running through it. Very excited to see where this goes.

Finally found a moment to watch Shōgun after all this time. I really have almost no words to describe it - that's the best season of TV I've seen since Chernobyl. Stunningly shot, movingly told, beautifully acted. All the superlatives! What a triumph from start to finish. Genuinely astonishing stuff

Had a wonderful time at the Metal Gear orchestral concert tonight. The second half going back-to-back through MGS1, 2 and 4, and ending with vocal performances for Snake Eater and When Heavens Divide was some biblical shit. So good. Got properly emotional during the medley with the main theme.

I actually had no real interest in VTM: Bloodlines 2 at first, but I have been a fan of The Chinese Room since Dear Esther in 2012, so seeing reviews say it’s not really an RPG but a narrative-driven game, in line with the studio’s usual output, shot it straight onto my must-play list. It was okay!

Did the new FFXIV deep dungeon yesterday with my FC. That was good, actually! The later floors were spicy with our shitty RNG lol. Looking forward to checking out the Quantum difficulty. Four-man difficulty choices are nice, but it seems without good rewards, it'll probably die like Criterion did.
