Starting a new job for an NFP that advocates for queer rights on Trans Day of Rememberance. Feels very fitting.

TIL that Denzel Washington's mother owned a hairdressing salon with a drag queen who performed with Dorian Corey.
Episode 2 of Season 9 profiles Dorian Corey. One of Paris Is Burning's most quotable characters, Corey's life helps us explore the history of drag from balls for enslaved people in the 1870s to today. And when she died, friends found a mummified body in her closet. badgayspod.com/episode-arch...

When you follow world politics and are also a nerd, headlines about 'MTG' and Trump can be very confusing.

I am such a nerd. I noticed the product codes written towards the bottom of these bottles in my hotel bathroom, and my next thought was: 'Ahhh, so that's why I couldn't find any moisturiser'.

I've been reflecting on poor luck in dating & how rarely I get hit on. Some people have called me intimidating, which I find ironic & hilarious.

But that led to realising I've had a few people say lately that I'm cool, something I would never have thought possible. Maybe I'm cool & intimidating?

Turns out the real threat to women and children were the Republicans in charge. They scapegoated trans people to deflect from their own sex crimes against women and children.
As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

I don't agree with capital punishment, but certainly more serious ramifications. Especially in cases where this hurts people, like wage theft.
one thing we need to do as a society is treat all fraud or theft over $100 million or so as a potential capital crime, with the possibility of execution for offenders.

I love seeing a shred of accountability for Trump as much as anyone, but it's pretty striking that most people are prepared to believe a man who's a convicted serial rapist-sex trafficker and NOT ALL THESE WOMEN katemanne.substack.com/p/the-actual...

"It is a rare thing for a government to admit it was wrong — rarer still to commit, in plain words and enduring actions, to making it right. Yet that is what this moment asks."

Now for a long-overdue national treaty.

Always was. Always will be.
Australia's first treaty with Aboriginal people becomes law in Victoria
Victoria's first treaty with Aboriginal people has been signed by members of the Aboriginal community, the premier and state governor.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Today marks 10 years since I legally removed a superfluous 'a' from my birth name.

I didn't know then that I'm non-binary, though it likely subconsciously influenced my decision.

I also didn't know my mother would disown me for it.

Despite the pain, it was the best decision of my life.

Reading The Invisible Doctrine by Monbiot & Hutchison and there are just so many great references and conclusions. But tonight, this one stood out to me.

Hard to think of anything in media that regularly brings me as much pure joy anymore as the headline in The New York Times' Trilobites section.

Queer Xmas (i.e. SpringOut Fair Day) was a great reminder that there is loving community here in Canberra for LGBTQIA+ folks.

I needed that.

Happy Halloween. Trickle-down economics is nothing more than a cruel hoax designed to enrich corporations and the super-rich. For working people, it's been 40 years of all trick and no treat. Enough.

This is just devastating. Only six hours of hope for some of Qld's most marginalised young people.
The decision by the Queensland Health Minister to reinstate a ban on puberty blockers for trans kids is a bloody disgrace.

To do so literally hours after the previous ban was overturned in court is particularly cruel and callous. 🧵(1/4)

AFP finally responded to my complaint re: cops ignoring transphobic hate speech & refusing to answer my Qs on laws at the 1st MFA rally in Canberra.

Admitted all 3 cops I approached acted improperly, counselled all & will request additional info sent to protest cops.

Not enough, but something.

With Trump building a gold-covered ballroom while over 40 million US citizens will stop getting food stamps, this comparison seems even more apt.
