Met someone at a party the other evening who told me what her favourite Shirley Temple film was within the first 15 minutes of conversation, unprompted. Managed not to grab her by the lapels and scream BE MY FRIEND, which I find tends to put people off.

If anyone has people in their network who work in charities which deal specifically with issues of rural poverty I’d be grateful for any connections. Not rural homelessness, although I appreciate there’s a crossover. Scoping out a possible follow on to Outsiders focused on this subject.

If you're looking for ways to fight the despair from the state of the world like I am, may I recommend booking a tour at your local wildlife rescue, or walking dogs that need to be adopted or booking an animal meet and greet at your local zoo. Being with animals reminds me of the good in the world

My cat kept opening cupboards and ripping open food packets while I was at work. So I installed CCTV in the kitchen with a speaker so I can tell her her to stop from my desk at work. After 12 days she learned to knock the camera away first so I couldn't see. Clever girl.

I don't know why but during a drink with some pals I ended up bragging about all the produce from my allotment. Of course they asked for some; I'm currently smearing mud on some potatoes and parsnips from Aldi.

It'll be live-streamed. It's wild. It's in Kiruna, Sweden's most northern town (I've been there): the whole town is being moved to get to iron ore under it.

So today I sold some books to Pierce Brosnan, which made up for working a Sunday. I NEARLY made it past the casual “how not to be awks around a celeb” thing when my colleague said “ooh, you look familiar?”. He said “Bob. James Bob. I’ve saved the world four times”.
