Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

The paradox of obesity strikes again.
"We found that both very low and very high body weight increase the chance of losing independence after surgery. People with mild obesity seemed to recover better and were more likely to keep living on their own."

“But … but … how could I have known that the thing I used to cheat on my exams during studies that saddled me with mortgage-sized debt will also be doing the job I need to pay off those student loans?”

I joke, but this is awful.
Chilling piece on employment effects of AI on early careers. Includes this line, which will probably become the norm for many firms: "Managers at Shopify must now justify hiring a human by first explaining why AI can’t do the job."

Trump turned his troops on the American people. Only the most naive would think he won't be willing to turn them on Canada. His officials claim Canada is running fentanyl, terrorists and El Salvador gangs across the border.

The far right radicalization of young men is a serious issue. Fanning male rage was a big part of the MAGA movement and is part of the game plan on the Polievre Conservatives.
In my latest piece I discuss the toxic impacts on schools and democracy.

Postpartum haemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality globally.

Even when not fatal, it can lead to lifelong physical and mental health impacts, from major organ damage to hysterectomies, anxiety and trauma.

It is highly treatable if caught early
