Is there a reason I ask that the Times are using a picture of asylum seekers in a boat to describe rules for migrants who came on legal routes such as skilled worker visas for doctors?

It's time to cap political donations & end the buying of political influence. No one gives hundreds of thousands to a political party out of sheer kindness. We also need new laws to ensure transparency in the funding of think tanks & put an end to dark money in politics. Democracy is not for sale.

Got a lot of time for the News Agents normally but they never seem to get Scotland. Maybe wishful thinking on their part but I think they’re wrong to assert so confidently that an independent Scotland wouldn’t have been welcomed in the EU and that its economy would have tanked in short order
If Scots had voted Yes to independence, the shock would have led to David Cameron's resignation and rUK would still be in the EU!

The SNP's enduring legacy may not be independence in itself, but demonstrating via the Scottish Parliament that Scotland can better manage its own affairs than the UK can.
I’m far from being their biggest fan, but after watching the long slow Tory UK government train-wreck followed by a more rapid saga of f*ck-uppery by the Labour one, I wonder if the UK wouldn’t greatly benefit by having an SNP UK government for a few years or ten.
