Jordan Peterson is a loser who doesn’t deserve to have anything named after him. Makes this absolutely fitting for this clown show of a government. #abpoli
"(Premier) Smith is calling it Alberta's "Peterson law," after the Ontario psychologist and social media personality Jordan Peterson, who was sanctioned by his province's professional regulator for controversial public statements.

Let’s be clear on this: Danielle Smith is ripping up the Charter of Rights & Freedoms to take away rights from the most vulnerable people in Alberta. And she’s doing it to protect herself from the militant wing of her own party, nothing more. Hope it’s all she’s ever remembered for in the long run

How high are the stakes really? The UCP has never demonstrated that there’s an incredible amount of children getting gender treatment forced on them by doctors that justifies taking away Charter rights. I don’t think they’ve even shown one doctor doing that. It’s pure fearmongering. #ableg #abpoli

Did I raise the specter of white supremacy in writing this? Sure did! Dozens of flag-raisings happen annually and nobody bats an eye. But when the Palestinian community finally gets its turn, everybody loses their minds. #yyc

We’re really raising a stink about flag-raisings?
To be totally blunt, this “emergency” notice of motion to end the raising of foreign flags at Calgary’s city hall is peak white supremacy. Yep, I said it. I don’t like to play that card and almost …

I wrote much of this the morning after election day, after I spent four hours scrutineering at the Elections Calgary counting centre. Ten days later, I can officially say the entire election process was unnecessarily messy and needs a lot of fixing. #yyc #abpoli #ableg

A couple weeks ago, I had a discussion with some gentlemen who were upset about the mayor "ramming through" blanket rezoning in Calgary against their wishes. I wonder how they feel about the UCP ramming through a back to work order and new contract on teachers. #yyc #ableg #abpoli

What will become available first: An appointment for a flu shot or an appointment to change my tires at Costco? #yyc #abpoli
If you have a kid under 5 in #yeg and haven't booked their flu shot yet, the earliest availability is the end of November. The Alberta government really doesn't want people to get vaccines. 🙄

All the UCP’s changes to municipal elections made the election worse. It was actually awful. The counting centre was chaotic despite all the best efforts of the workers. It took 4 hours to count only the mayor’s advance votes. By the same time in 2021, we knew the full council results. #yyc #yyccc

- Low turnout
- Vote-splitting
- Feeling like votes are being wasted
- Candidates winning with barely 30% of the votes

These issues are plaguing the current municipal election in Calgary and we could address them by making the switch to ranked ballots. #yyc #yyccc

I was checking into a candidate forum this past week and the person at the table asked if I'm Andrew Ng, the tech guy with two million followers. Alas I am not.

An attack on one group’s human rights is an attack on all of our human rights. What the UCP has done with their anti-trans bills is gross for trans people, young girls, their families, their teachers and their coaches. It disgusts me to no end and all Albertans should feel the same. #ableg #abpoli

The NDP will never appeal to the people who like these policies and they should quit trying. Those people will just always vote for the UCP. And the rest of us can smell cowardice from 100 km away.
How has the NDP not just come out and said “We’ll repeal the anti-trans bills, we won’t tell schools what books they can’t have in their libraries, and we’ll let kids figure out their path forward in whatever way they feel is safest for themselves. We’ll support them and their families.” ?? #abpoli
One lesson in this is that the Alberta NDP needs to step up their game. They were almost completely irrelevant in this entire discussion. #AbLeg #AbPoli

I suspect they discovered that many conservative voters also disagree with book bans. They also realized that school divisions were not going to interpret "sexual content" to mean only 2SLGBTQ+ content.

Notably, all the examples of "explicit sexual content" the government provided were from 2SLGBTQ+ books. This suggests that their intent was to ban this content specifically and that they expected school divisions to apply the order only to certain kinds of books.

Congratulations to the Edmonton Public School Board for fighting fire with fire and proving the UCP are nothing to be feared, but truly a bunch of feckless dimwits who fold like cheap umbrellas at the slightest opposition

Now teach the ANDP how to fight

I was told by a city councillor and some city officials that the closing of the Eau Claire YMCA and the Beltine rec centre would be okay because MNP is nearby. Now MNP is going to charge for parking, all while being a massive facility that’s always packed. Sorry but it’s not a good solution. #yyc
