I think we should let Trump run Venezuela INSTEAD of the United States.

This, by me, appeared in HuffPost 12 years ago. I sent a copy to Van Dyke & his wife but they didn't respond. Maybe they thought it snarky (I thought silly).

Carl Reiner responded, though. He thanked me. The Rob of another alternate universe

Dick Van Dyke: And That's the Way It Isn't
Now, Cronkite, by all accounts, was a fine dancer and would no doubt have performed a credible "Put on a Happy Face." But could you imagine Dick tripping over the anchor desk while reporting the death...

Trump wages war against tamales and Somalis. I wonder if he thinks they're the same thing.

I keep hearing news commentators criticizing Trump for lawlessly blowing up boats. But they're saying it wrong. He's blowing up PEOPLE.

They keep saying Trump shouldn't have Mohammed bin Salman in the Oval Office because he killed Khashoggi.

But wait a minute, hasn't Trump killed like 70 people lately in those fishing boats? MbS should be shunning HIM.

Trump's not done resisting the release of the files. He's hoping to stop them in the Senate. He may still blather something or other about something or other as he vetoes the bill, should it pass the Senate. /1

There’s still time to call senators. Let me explain. Sorry not sorry about the cat. He’s also really upset about this deal.

Make no mistake, there is no chance that the House will vote down the Senate bill. The fate of the ACA subsidies lies with the upcoming final Senate vote and is thus in the hands of Democratic senators. We need a few weasels to de-wease.

It's clear that the Democrats are acting cowardly in facilitating this deal. But what are they getting out of it?

What are the expected rewards for this cowardice? What's the benefit to any of them?

For those who are saying the Senate deal is only through January. By the end of January, people will have already begun suffering the effects of massively increased healthcare costs. If there's another shutdown, the increased costs will continue throughout. /1

These Democratic senators are morons. The Republicans had no strategy to get out of this. If the shutdown continued, people would more clearly see what evil, destructive bastards the Republicans are. We, the Democrats, have saved them from that. They'll now look like master tacticians. /1
