I'm sorry I had to unfollow you today, but you reposted AI generated imagery. I had no choice but to sever ties.

Just finished reading "Did God Have a Wife?: Archaeology and Folk Religion in Ancient Israel" by William Dever. It's an interesting book, focusing (as the title suggests) on archaeology rather than religious texts to understand how everyday people did religion in ancient times. #Asherah

It can't be that hard to do. Pull from a word list containing jeans, pickup truck, country-fried and something something American flag, and there ya go.

Makes me feel better about choosing not to renew all those CompTIA certs. I have no idea what I'll do if and when I eventually get laid off. 😶

In a sane world, all of the AI nonsense Microsoft is forcing upon users would be an optional Plus! pack, like they used to do with Windows 9x. They could also make it an optional update.

The fact that it's not optional is proof that it's not being foisted upon consumers for our own benefit.

"Field of Stars". This was made (circa 1950) with a strange 6x9 plastic camera known as a "Stylex"; from the Herbert George Camera Company of Chicago. Even stranger was the 1968-expired "DandiPan" film that created all those "stars". #expiredfilm #filmphotography

Good news, everyone! Tech bro billionaires may soon have access to anti-aging treatments that let them keep hoarding wealth far beyond the normal human lifespan.

It seems unlikely that ordinary working people would be able to afford Fountain of Youth pills. #ReversingAging

Looking forward to reading this. It's a pretty substantial book in good shape I got from ThriftBooks. They're an independent bookseller, and have very reasonable prices. #WeirdNewEngland

I got my first Keurig ⁓15 years ago, as a wedding gift. I've bought others after that one died. I've only figured out, by accident, in the last week that you don't have to wait for the water to finish heating to close the top and make your cup size selection.

The wasted years! #Coffee

Using generative AI, even in the service of ostensibly righteous causes, is a net negative for humanity. It contributes to the erosion of a shared reality, it plagiarizes art of many kinds, and it's killing the damn planet. #GenAI
