A timeline cleanser: My recent newsletter is about rise of "repair cafes" around the world, where communities come together to fix each other's beloved things. The goal: reduce consumer waste, and maybe make some buddies in the process 🔧👭

One ~182km x ~211km solar thermal plant could provide all of America’s electricity, including a fully-electrified land transport sector.

100% clean power from just 0.39% of U.S land.

That’s why renewables are constantly under attack from the fossil fuel industry and their paid mouthpieces.

Despicable.
Removing a monument honoring Black US soldiers has nothing to do with DEI. It’s erasure of history and it’s straight-up racism.

Liar
We inherited” is the new “but her emails.” They take responsibility for nothing. Who deported workers in the food production industry? Who imposed massive tariffs on finished goods, agricultural products. and raw materials? Who promised to lower prices “on day one”?

The loss in US prestige and influence over the last year is enormous.

Sure, other countries will still bow and smile politely... But in a myriad of ways they'll be prioritising themselves amongst the realisation any reciprocation or mateship is gone.

The first ever disruption to the nation's largest anti-hunger program came as a shock. It's shaken trust in the program for some and stoked concern that it could happen again.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

And we're supposed to believe Starbucks can't afford to bargain a fair contract with its unionized workers?
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

A 1-year-old girl was pepper-sprayed through the window of a moving vehicle by ICE agents in Chicago. She was briefly hospitalized.

The dad said a masked agent pointed pepper-spray at a Sam's parking lot when they were hit.

I love this idea.
My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

Media has become an endless river of oligarchic monopoly money. trib.al/8hb71XG

Public constraint has largely evaporated, and that doesn’t mean the system has been handed over to “the market.” Today, 40% of all local TV news stations are under the control of the 3 largest broadcast conglomerates.

But by how much, and for how long, is still something we can change. 🌍

As #COP30 kicks off in Brazil, all eyes turn to the world leaders in attendance. Will they take this opportunity to change course?
