Once upon a time, very long ago in 'net time, I was a denizen of a place called h2g2...

I'm here to keep up with friends, occasionally vent, and share things I find delightful for various reasons. I love puns, but am not often able to perpetrate them.
We're home! Technically have been for a bit, but humans and cats needed feeding.
Oh, yay, TWO flat tires!

MIL update, direct from group chat (names removed):

Hello Everyone.
Thank you all for prayers for Grandma(Mom):
The results for the biopsy finally came back and I spoke with the doctor today. Sadly, the tumor is aggressive and incurable except by a miracle. (1)

This actually happened last night, but I didn't have time to write it up until now.

It's been a *little* chilly, here in the path of Winter Storm Fern (we were fine--literal tons of firewood, and we lost power for maybe an hour). Work was closed until yesterday at 10am. Last night, when I got (1)

Aaaaaaand turns out the wood stove is too hot to do perpetual soup. I didn't think to take a picture, but I was only able to rescue about a 4th of the contents... The Dutch oven is now sitting and soaking. I guess leaving something in the basement isn't smart. I hope I didn't ruin the pot.

At this point, looking at the hourly forecast, if we haven't lost power yet, we're not likely to. To be expected, given that we prepared well... I'd been all ready to cook on the wood stove, but have settled for keeping leftovers as perpetual soup instead of cooling and refrigerating. We're (1)

I didn't realize just how empty the living room was--we emptied it out for listing purposes the last couple days of November, but decorated lightly for Christmas as soon as the photographer left on December 2nd. We just undecorated, and dang...

OK, so my time estimate was a bit off, but I didn't realize I'd be arriving at lunchtime, and that I'd have to remind MIL, who is Catholic, that fish-on-Friday is optional after 65 (not even going into that it's not fasting season for Catholics now, anyway, so Friday fasting doesn't apply for (1)

Oh, LOVELY. Just got some tea down the wrong tube.

MIL is being released into temporary care today. I went from, "Ah, I can stay horizontal for a bit longer, but have to remember my dentist appointment at 1." to rescheduling said appointment and getting ready for pick up and delivery in under an hour. I'll probably be home in 4-5 hours...

MIL update, copied from the group.

Tom:
Mom(Grandma) is going to be released into skilled nursing in the next few days as she is not strong enough yet to get around on her own. I did my best to find a decent place. This will hopefully be temporary until she has enough physical therapy. (1)

We had a virtual showing on Monday, and they are asking more detailed questions than the folks from the week before.

We had another house showing on Monday, and they are now asking more questions. That's got to be a good sign, right?

MIL update

Tom: She is still in [redacted] hospital but is starting to get some strength back and gain weight. She is starting to get some PT so she can be more mobile. We are awaiting word from the doctor on official results from biopsy which will likely direct her treatment plan for the tumor.

OK, so Tom had started a group chat on Tuesday with his sister and niblings when MIL first went into the hospital. He just added F and I (I can keep G updated --I did with the M group chat, and she's obviously more entitled to info about her grandma than someone who lived here for half a year, (1)

I got a message from Tom last night on my way home from work. He was in the ER with his mom, awaiting bloodwork, CAT scan, and MRI.

He got home around 3:30am. When we were both awake (aka a few minutes ago), he told me that MIL had a spot on her brain, and swelling, and that biopsies were going (1)

The last day shift of the year is a mixture of most of C Shift (the weekend shift) and about a dozen of my shift (A Shift). Why the <bleep> does no one on C Shift number their totes/other packaging?!?

Brought to you by a Backup Quality Auditor whose reports require the skid number...
