I am sad, outraged, perplexed, all the things. I have dear friends who are working for USAID abroad whose careers were just slashed and burned illegally. Not to mention the massive harm this is causing for people who benefited directly from the programs. I hope this can still be rectified.
USAID’s website has been deleted, all that is left is a note saying all personnel are now on administrative leave and personnel outside the US are to be brought home. Completely illegal, no act of congress or even executive order was signed to dismantle the agency

This is unconscionable. We cannot allow a hostile takeover of our government agencies.
This might give some pause to anyone who thinks of Musk’s DOGE as just a dispassionate accounting firm trying to make everything run more smoothly.
