The imperial presidency has upset the Political Pendulum model.

A functioning constitutional government needs judicial checks & balance of a functional Congess.

Without 2 of 3 branches, a monopoly of power develops.

Electoral integrity is necessary for swinging the pendulum back to the center.
Congress is rapidly proving itself irrelevant, and the only person who benefits from that is Donald Trump.
October 27, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Many are commenting on Jack Smith's request to have his testimony in open session.

If closed, staff are sworn to secrecy and fired for revealing what was said.

A member of Congress could be expelled if they blab, but would be protected by the Speech & Debate Clause against legal action.

Voting is fundamental to a functioning democracy.

States have ultimate authority for running elections.

The question is, if the government chooses who votes, are we still a government of the people?

To help us spread the lessons needed in a democracy, check us out!

People think Darth Vader is cool.

But they don't like imperialist rule.

That's why we have checks and balances.
Trump: "We have Darth Vader. You know Darth Vader, right? Darth Vader is a man who is sitting -- is that Darth? Stand up please. Does everybody know -- they call him Darth Vader, I call him a fine man. But he's cutting Democrat priorities and they're never gonna get them back."

Gerrymandering is a process where district maps are drawn in a way to either group or separate areas which are likely to vote for a legislative candidate. This can be either for state or federal levels of government.

It's not random, there are ways to measure whether a district is drawn to favor

This is an excellent example of legislative oversight. A function of checks & balances

A legislator investigating potential corruption and agency activities which could be subject to potential new laws which would force action by an agency.

Thank you @wyden.senate.gov
New developments in my 3 year Epstein investigation, this time regarding JP Morgan Chase and its CEO, Jamie Dimon. This is a long thread, but worth sticking around for.

While the Constitution can sometimes be open to interpretation, Congress can pass a law to clarify any vague process within it.

So Congress, signed by a president passed The Impoundment Control Act: Passed in 1974, cancelation of funds requires congressional approval.
Just go ahead and delete article 1 entirely while you’re at it.
Well that's not how appropriations work at all

Thank you for your interview last hour.

We are a new non-profit run by a fed employee displaced this spring.

It's been a tough road to get off the ground even focused on non-partisan civics education. We're getting questions about running afoul of this administration.

There is a federal principle that states should not be able to undermine federal policy using targeted criminal prosecutions, a doctrine known as Supremacy Clause Immunity.

Because of the Supremacy Clause, federal power is over state laws and constitutions. This is an extension of that.
Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?

The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.

At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.

The 1st Amendment has 5 rights within it.

One of those is Freedom of Assembly. Which prohibits government interference in free association among people.
By the way, that's not the only big news in Abortion, Every Day:

If Oklahoma healthcare providers want to keep their Medicaid funding, they'll have to sign what amounts to an anti-abortion loyalty pledge—promising they won't even refer patients for abortions, or affiliate with pro-choice groups

Government can change our lives in many ways!

In 1752 the government of the British Empire along with the American Colonies told everyone to skip Sept 3 to Sept 13.

And people today complain about daylight savings time!

Voting is important, there are more ways to have your voice heard.

1. Take action! Attend protests, donate time to a cause, or talk to your friends about important issues.

2. Join a political party in your county

3. Find an organization that agrees with your views

But always vote!

As we have seen an increase in political violence in the last decade, it's important to look at prior periods of violence and the similar conditions under which they began and ended.

This is a great and relevant article by Kellie Carter Jackson, a historian of 19th century America.
Violence in Political History – AHA
There have been few major transitions in political history that have not involved violence. Riots, rebellions, and revolutions all contain (and perhaps even require) elements of political violence.

Assassinations tend to occur around times of great upheaval and when the social fabric is at its weakest.

Abe Lincoln, Julius Caesar, the assassinations of almost every prominent national civil rights leader of the 1960s, the Kennedys.

The Ash Center for Democratic Governance & Innovation:

"Conflicts ... create 3 problems...

... the public suffers when officials’ judgments are compromised: ...

[2nd] conflicts of interest reduce trust and confidence in government and democracy. ...

[3rd] ... This is corrupt and unfair."

Important to remember that the vast majority of Americans don't know what democracy means, or fascism.
Using these terms and the words provoke reaction.

Some might deny an affiliation, even though they agree with the meanings.

We must build civic literacy so we can begin discussions.
"But are there not many fascists in your country?"

"There are many who do not know they are fascists but will find it out when the time comes."

“For Whom the Bell Tolls." One of Ernest Hemingway's notable anti-fascism quotes from this book. MORE: belib.org/DJdjAbG

Dir Hall Jamieson, of Annenberg Pub Pol Ctr. “Civics knowledge matters. Those who do not understand the rights protected by the Constitution can neither cherish nor invoke them; those who do not know which party controls the House & Senate may misattribute credit or blame for action or inaction”
