I’ve been in a couple seminars with people in the natural sciences lately and it seems pretty common that academics in those fields aren’t seeing the problems with outsourcing a large portion of their work to chatbots
Imagine being a professor and admitting this on Nature.com:
"I used it [ChatGPT) as an assistant every day — to write e-mails, draft course descriptions, structure grant applications, revise publications, prepare lectures, create exams and analyse student responses"

When two years of academic work vanished with a single click
After turning off ChatGPT’s ‘data consent’ option, Marcel Bucher lost the work behind grant applications, teaching materials and publication drafts. Here’s what happened next.

Do not cite an academic paper unless you’ve read it
AI Is Inventing Academic Papers That Don't Exist -- And They're Being Cited in Real Journals
Academic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.

And so checked out Google Scholar. Now on my profile it doesn't appear, but somwhow on Nelli's it does and ... and ... omg, IT'S BEEN CITED 42 TIMES almost exlusively in papers about AI in education from this year alone... scholar.google.com.vn/citations?vi...

Your daily image fact check. This lovely AP photo is being spread around social media as an image of the French detective in charge of investigating the Louvre robbery. It's not AI but there's absolutely no indication I can see that it's anything other than a dapper passerby
