Even @andrewjnorton.bsky.social is on a short 1 year contract - hard for ECAs who roll from short contract to contract to feel they can have academic freedom (but Andrew is close enough to retirement to feel secure to speak out on key issues)

And educators need to COMMIT to this upskilling as well.

We also need to invest in systems (people and tech) to track this, and allow students to evaluate their own progress.

We can't just add up marks and pass the students who get 50% in a unit. Which half of the learning outcomes have they met? Qualitative judgements are required, argues Rowena.
