It is #kidlitchat day once again! Join us tonight at 9 PM Eastern/ 6 PM Pacific/Your Time Your Zone for an hour of talking with your #kidlit pals and soon to be pals. I predict you'll be glad you join us, though I admit to some pro-chat bias. Still! Give it a try, and I hope to see you tonight....

Two weeks ago vs. today. Big change. Short time. I think the universe is telling me it’s time to do the thing(s) I’ve been avoiding. We will resume this discussion in 14 days…

The fact that writers can use various combinations of 26 letters to make me care about people who never existed and then destroy me emotionally by making them suffer is the weirdest, most unfair, and wonderful of magics

Started a starter pack for people who write funny parenting content (in any form). I am definitely missing lots of people so if you want to be added, just reply to this to let me know.

(Also appreciate any shares.)

Parents - here's your reminder to take some candid photos of your partner with your children when they're not aware.

These will end up being your favorites.

I just saw a guy on a motorcycle with no helmet on, driving with one hand while scrolling on his phone with the other. While in motion.

Call me crazy, but this seems risky.

Just a reminder that we’ve entered agitated bee season, where typical bee behavior includes following you around the grocery store parking lot and then unexpectedly popping out of your mini-cucumbers to attack. You have been warned.

You know those couples who are ALWAYS holding hands? Yesterday, I saw a duo holding hands while they were MOVING BOXES out of an apartment…inner hands linked, outer arms curved inward, with one hand from each partner on the box in the middle. I imagine they will be fully moved out in about 73 days.

Dear #kidlitart,
September is childhood cancer awareness month. It will remain unknown to most people, even those who "pink in October." September's color is gold, & I have yet to find a "go gold" shirt donating the proceeds. Does anyone have the energy to create & donate a design? #cancer

Apostrophe Update: Making names that end in Z possessive is easier than making names that end in S possessive.

Z is like any other letter — add an apostrophe plus S:

Walz's schedule.

Bonus Tip: They're like everything else for plurals too.

The Walzes are bringing hotdish to the potluck.
The way you make a name that ends in S possessive depends on which style guide you follow:

Parents of younger children, I urge you to keep/save one year of your family planners for future reference. Now with my kids (mostly) on their own, one quick glance at my calendar from 2009 is all the justification I need to enjoy any lazy day or night guilt-free for the rest of my existence.
