So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood.

"It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.
Why an A.I. Video of Tom Cruise Battling Brad Pitt Spooked Hollywood
A 15-second clip created by an artificial intelligence tool owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance appears more cinematic than anything so far.

Upcoming Texas primary is important. Voting is essential. At bottom line though, we are main act in difficult days ahead. We saw this in Minnesota with self-organized resistance to federal occupation.

Many of these candidates will be gone soon. Our need to organize & to protect ourselves remains.

As a person who struggles to finish story games, it is so much fun watching Caroline Kwan play RDR2. A game I will never start because I know I will never finish much to the chagrin of my partner and many friends.

I actually think it’s a good thing to not preemptively swear you’ll vote for Gavin Newsome before he’s the candidate

For @comicsbeat.bsky.social, I reviewed FIRST FREEDOM (@oni-press.bsky.social), a centuries-spanning nonfiction work chronicling the life of Dr. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, and the fight for Juneteenth to become a federal holiday. This is an excellent addition to any library.
Graphic Novel Review: First Freedom – The Story of Opal Lee and Juneteenth is a marvel

First Freedom: The Story of Opal Lee and Juneteenth is a deeply researched, beautifully executed, historical and biographical graphic novel.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt made a 12-minute response video to people mad at him supporting mass surveillance and censorship, and somehow got even MORE wrong about Section 230 than his original congressional testimony.

Third, they want to revoke teaching licenses from educators who "celebrated" the death of far-right agitator Charlie Kirk. "Celebrated" being a slippery slope. No comparable bill for "celebrating" the deaths of anyone else, esp those on the left.

Bill would allow denial of educator licenses over posts 'celebrating' Kirk death • Iowa Capital Dispatch
While the bill specifically references speech about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, it would also apply to other cases of politically motivated violence.

I meant to go find the full video when this first popped up on my skyline. Good reminder to find that now… I need to share this with a lot of people I know who are buying into the hype and feel they must use AI or “get left behind…” They need to hear this!
More people should listen to @tressiemcphd.bsky.social

When people say AI is inevitable, let them know the future isn’t settled.

Yeah this is a big fucking issue. Critique the push for religious/ethnic supremacy of any religion (example: Christian Nationalist, Hindu Nationalist, Zionist*, etc) when relevant but to just through a faith as a description for a crime or harmful action is extremely dangerous. Let alone in this
I have to say, I do not love this new trend of large liberal accounts with millions of followers identifying Jews.

I remember how everyone tore that one girl to shreds for bringing this up after the Beyoncé halftime. Like it got so unnecessarily ugly! Even though she’s a huge Beyoncé fan. Ppl are not able to have nuanced conversations about artists they enjoy and it never had to be that serious 😭

Absolutely. And I need everyone to read up on the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 for full(er) context.
I do appreciate that elected officials are starting to pivot to comparing ICE to KKK members and slave catchers instead of Nazis. Nice touch for Black History Month
