I saw this last week and it is COOL AS HELL
If you’ve been along Eglinton in the last few months you might have noticed something large and hairy developing in the distance. It’s turned out to be a massive Lincoln monument-style statue.. with a female grizzly bear on the seat instead. I spoke to the sculptor:

A giant bear sitting on a throne looms over this Toronto neighbourhood. What’s the story behind ‘Bearbraham Lincoln’?
The 10-metre tall female grizzly in a North York park is the mirror image of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

This is unlike any Toronto police undercover work to get a murder confession I think I've ever seen. Story from the Star's Jacques Gallant: www.thestar.com/news/gta/how...
How an undercover Toronto cop secured a murder confession from an 18-year-old — over ‘chit chat’ about makeup, nails and boys
“It was so quick,” a giggling Brianna Warner said on the undercover officer’s recording. “It was one bullet ... I didn’t want to waste any.”

Everyone who talks about bail reform should also have to read Brendan Kennedy’s investigation of the abuse “akin to torture” of people awaiting trial, and the cover-up at Maplehurst jail.

Inside the many lies told by Maplehurst jail officials trying to cover up the ‘torture’ of inmates
The deceit ranged from serious attempts to conceal what happened, to absurd, easily disprovable lies that left an Ontario judge stunned.
