Have any practicing Hellenists out there attempted reconstructions of the Eleusinian rites yet? I know they were shrouded in secrecy—so as much is not easily attainable. But I am curious if anyone has given it a go.

We need a loose network of interlocking furred societies to essentially do what unions did at the bottom of the 20th century:
Everything from legal defense to mutual aid to housing to skilled mentoring. We need autocephalous community leadership that effectively parallels state functions.

Doing coursework for my #philosophy masters is reminding me of how much ethics discourse straight up proceeds absent any metaphysical discourse. This has the effect of making you look “weird” when you produce a challenge to a theory by not agreeing to its (often implicit) metaphysical assumptions.

If it is criminal to remark that state-sanctioned acts of terror violate the civil liberties my ancestor fought to secure in the American Revolution, then I meet my charge with honor. Neither global capital, nor the president it bought, have a genuine homeland—who are these to speak of patriotism?

If the public does nothing, they get brutalized for either being ‘illegal’ or ‘interfering w an investigation.’
But if they do something, they get brutalized for being insurrectionists?
I don’t know what legitimate power looks like as a child of the 21st century—but it sure as hell ain’t this.

I’m sure it would only prompt further DHS deployments… but I wish state governments did more to actively oppose these weaponized ICE raids. Were I some governor, not merely would local law enforcement not cooperate, they would be tasked with essentially policing ICE and enforcing civil liberties.

ICE reportedly shot someone at Portland and 33/34. Mspt saying bullets, could be less lethal 20+ agents on site, MPD and ambulances responding. Helicopters overhead

I am suddenly less fond of the existentialist tradition’s phenomenology. Husserl’s Principle of Principle gets it right, whether the transcendental ego exists or not. Heidegger, Sartre, and even Marion seem to be missing the point on this matter.

On my view, its thesis elevates the act of visually externalizing the erotic to the status of the timeless, mystical act of Neoplatonic divine remembering, which characterizes all knowledge production and the realization of transcendent meaning.
