Irreverent electronics for makers and modern yarn tools for crafters. Yes, both. A very small business in San Luis Obispo (SLO), CA, USA, owned by Carrie Sundra (she/her), the real live human who is behind these posts.

Project idea for Pin-Bot - mine came without the red light bar topper, and I don’t really like the way they look anyway - a bit too cop car for a space robot. So I’m thinking of building my own infinity mirror topper using the same incandescent flashers.
@alpenglow.bsky.social got me wondering if it's possible to do an infinity mirror with a 45º bend in it. Turns out it totally is.

(There were much easier ways to validate this that don't involve an overnight render)

Made an "analog" YouTube book for my kid so she can choose what she wants (from pre-approved list) without being exposed to a thumbnail hellscape. Also automatically cuts her off after x scans

404 Media is watching ICE grow from an already horrifying organization into a deportation force that is better funded than most militaries. It's why we made a zine about the surveillance technologies used by ICE.

These beautiful mfs seriously make the greatest hardware “review” show ever; because they’re not actually reviewing anything, it’s just slice-of-life first few hours with a new dev board and omg I’m terrified.

Calls for civility are often weaponized by abusers, by bigots, by those who would oppress you. If it is considered impolite to speak out against dishonor, then it is time for a true warrior to be rude.

I spent Sunday fixing up Pin-Bot, here’s a thread! Thanks again to @roypollock.bsky.social for letting me care for this wonderful machine. The problem was that the score displays stopped lighting up, time for some rework of the power supply board!

As a wordy person, this is interesting. I’d love to see longer-form comms in the fediverse.

New ATproto writing app:

“Weaver is designed to be a flexible platform for medium and long-form writing on atproto. I was inspired by how weaver birds build their own homes, and by the notebooks, physical and virtual, that I create in the course of my work, to ideate, to document, & to inform.”

Some announcements.

First, brand account. Hi.

Second, a preliminary version of subdomain hosting for Weaver notebooks is working. Currently there is no interface to enable it, but the required architectural changes in the app had to come first.

Woo! Just got a box of 200 more Jumperless V5s.
These are rev 7, the only real difference is they have 2 friction-fit OLED headers on the main board, so it can sit in that crevice between the Nano headers (or scoot it over to the right if you have something in there that would cover it.)

The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.
