So apparently ICE is claiming there’s been “a staggering 413 percent increase in assaults against them” and you know what, that’s a really good start but we can do better, folks! Aim for an even 500! Then double it! Shoot for the moon! An eleventy-thousand increase!

Absolutely astounding that it is still controversial to point out that the anti-trans movement is driven by bigotry, not ethics-in-research concerns about children.

They keep fucking telling you this to your face!

We saw this in the UK too: All of the allegedly "reasonable" concerns about bone density, low-quality research, lack of long-term follow-up, profits for Big Pharma, etc — magically disappear when it comes to cisgender kids receiving the exact same treatments.

There are three problems with putting something like this on TV or wide release.

1. The people who know it's happening and like it.

2. The people who won't believe it no matter what evidence they're given.

3. The people who don't and won't give a damn.

there's been an intense campaign to dehumanize trans people from the right, a campaign in lock step with rolling back ALL CIVIL RIGHTS. yet it is the marginalized ppl asking for rights that are critiqued and centered; not the cruel bigoted denial of those rights (just to exist!) by those in power.
Would be amazing to get a single piece of media on this topic centered on the right's firehose of bigotry and misinformation rather than "the trans rights movement's shortcomings"

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

I think one of the reasons you hear so much visceral anger coming from Dems about politics these days is bc for years now we’ve been expected to respond with dignity and respect (which we do) when political violence touches the GOP. But when it touches us - we get the Mike Lee’s of the world.
Because of my work and writing, I've talked to countless elected officials and their staffers about political violence over the past several years. Mostly Dem, though not all. The collective trauma for these folks is immeasurable and justified. With no recourse. www.semafor.com/article/06/1...
Congress confronts its own trauma
After an assassin’s hit list was revealed to contain multiple lawmakers, the pain of political violence hit home in new ways.

A sport that in the U.S. is highly dependent on Latino audiences is no longer viable. The World Cup cannot come here.

Democratic senators need to stop pretending that GOP senators are their “good friends across the aisle” and realize many of them are just lying sociopaths who are actively fanning the flames of violence against them.
It’s not just Mike Lee — Bernie Moreno is pretending that a registered Republican evangelical anti-abortion Trump voter who assassinated a Democrat and had more on his hit list is a representative of “the extreme left”

My dad was the one who put poetry in my hands as a kid, during our regular father-daughter trips into SF to City Lights Books. We would spend hours there, a lot of it in the upstairs poetry room. Had a huge impact on me.

Miss you so much, Dad 💙

I will hold the line on this. Right-wing violence has far more support, materially, institutionally and ideologically, in the U.S. than left-wing violence. There is no both-sidesing it.
And yes, this kind of violence has support on the right, in the form of pardons, statements of support from R politicians, and legitimate organizational forms (e.g. militias) that it simply does not have on the left
