Update on the real Barkley Marathons: the 2026 race just ended. No one finished (same as last year). One runner completed 3/5 loops (known as a Fun Run 😂)

A runner has to begin loop 4 by the 36 hour mark in order to continue. Neither Damian nor Sébastien will finish loop 3 in time to begin loop 4; however, if they complete loop 3 within 40 hours they will be credited with a Fun Run. #BM100

There are several good docs about the Barkley Marathons on youtube - I just watched this one about the first (and so far only) woman to finish the course, in 2024. LIke every Barkley doc, it starts with an overview to answer the question of "what is even happening here"
