The first issue of Mark Bright's final comics work, THE CENTER HOLDS, written by his GI JOE collaborator Larry Hama, comes out tomorrow, February 11th.
Mark D. Bright (Dec. 27, 1955-March 27, 2024), who probably drew just about every major Marvel & DC hero at some point, but is often most remembered for his work on Green Lantern & Iron Man, and for cocreating Icon with Dwayne McDuffie, and Quantum & Woody with Christopher Priest. #BlackHistoryMonth

My rejection letter from DC Comics and the great Dick Giordano.
To this day my wife and I joke, “we only accept serious submissions”. 😂
Years later Dick retired and ended up inking this poster I drew for Defiant Comics.
He was awesome and told us it was the most fun he ever had inking.

Sal Buscema turns 90 today. There's hardly a Marvel character Sal hasn't left his mark on, from Cap to the Hulk, Avengers to Thor. Working with Sal for two years on Spectacular Spider-Man remains a highlight of my career. And the best part? He's not just a great artist, he's a truly good guy.

This was an interesting project. The original cover was "rendered" using Ben Day Dots and flat color. In order to match up the background and surrounding elements I had to frankenstein it from samples of the original scan. The main head being a combo of old and new.
In case you missed it, I drew a variant cover for the all-new Firestorm #1 that makes an infinite connecto-wraparound with the original Firestorm #1 cover by Al Milgrom!
