Owner of a small coffee shop @cafe10terrasson.bsky.social in La France profonde. Flâneur if I had more time. Dessine-moi un mouton.
The GRO website appears to be 800px wide and I feel quite tearily nostalgic for the “olden days”. A simpler, more innocent time when the internet was a wonder.

Ricin. Not just for Bulgarian dissidents, it turns out. Also available in your friendly local Bio shop.

We opened a coffee shop 6 months ago and so many people were « get a facebook page, get on insta » and aside from we’ve been busier than expected and mostly word of mouth, I’m very tempted to say duck the whole meta binfire. What thinks the hive mind?

Can’t help but thinking that George Ezra needily whining on about someone « coming home for Christmas » is the exact reason that person IS NOT coming home for Christmas.

TIL, courtesy of the Bodleian, so it must be true, that Edith Sitwell knitted socks for Alec Guiness. I WANT it to be true, dammit.

One of the things I love about learning French is the sheer *Frenchness* of the lessons. Here’s Reverso doing existentialism.

Legend. Jean Le Cam, doing 20knots through the southern ocean competing in the Vendée Globe, manages to squeeze 4 “tactactac”s in a 2 min video while cooking confit geziers. Could he be cooler or more French? youtu.be/ccUBTtWyXUU?...

Shit Duo says, this is a great one: I’m doing Spanish as a speaker of French (I know, I know). If I said “Cinq pâtés de maison” would you think 5 home made meaty pâtés, like me, google and DeepL thought? Or 5 city blocks, like only Reverso (and Duo) thought? Confused me for too long…

How is this a comfortable way to lie? Followed by: what? I was comfortable.

France Inter have just reminded me of the linguistic twist that is « Pas terrible » which in the context of the French govt. means « Bad » Directly translated to British English it would mean « not terrible » which obviously means: « excellent ». Gets me every time. Can’t pass a budget? Great!

One simple skeet has rendered me a wistful mess of nostalgia for a past life. God, she’s good that @youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com Christmassy feels, I guess.
pitch: in December every pub should keep at least a couple of tables free for people who can prove that they do actually spend money in pubs the rest of the year

Removed trap from blocked sink. Congratulated myself on not pouring the water from the bowl down the toilet not back down the sink. Then started washing the trap out IN THE SINK. Jesus H Christ.

OK. Now also posting as my alter ego: @cafe10terrasson a small café in a small town in la France profonde. Tea, coffee, cakes and meals beside the Vézère. Dordogne/Correze borders, darling.

It’s time to dig out this masterpiece of « graphic design in a language they were not entirely familiar with, or were they? » spotted in Carrefour a few years ago.

Vézère/tree/mist content doesn’t have the same ring to it, but here we were this morning. Nithering.

Seriously. I haven’t ever received a more beguilingly wrapped package. I wonder which Italian bicycle manufacturer it could have come from? 😍

OK. This t shirt arrived randomly y’day. And it’s baffling: 1) We have never referred to the café as Dix. Always Numero 10. 2) 509 reasons? Eh? 3) What psychopath says cake and coffee? It’s coffee & cake. Like tea & biscuits. 4) it’s in English? It’s from a t shirt printer in Bordeaux? Eh?
