The GRO website appears to be 800px wide and I feel quite tearily nostalgic for the “olden days”. A simpler, more innocent time when the internet was a wonder.

TIL, courtesy of the Bodleian, so it must be true, that Edith Sitwell knitted socks for Alec Guiness. I WANT it to be true, dammit.

One of the things I love about learning French is the sheer *Frenchness* of the lessons. Here’s Reverso doing existentialism.

Shit Duo says, this is a great one: I’m doing Spanish as a speaker of French (I know, I know). If I said “Cinq pâtés de maison” would you think 5 home made meaty pâtés, like me, google and DeepL thought? Or 5 city blocks, like only Reverso (and Duo) thought? Confused me for too long…

Seriously. I haven’t ever received a more beguilingly wrapped package. I wonder which Italian bicycle manufacturer it could have come from? 😍

OK. This t shirt arrived randomly y’day. And it’s baffling: 1) We have never referred to the café as Dix. Always Numero 10. 2) 509 reasons? Eh? 3) What psychopath says cake and coffee? It’s coffee & cake. Like tea & biscuits. 4) it’s in English? It’s from a t shirt printer in Bordeaux? Eh?

The view from le pont neuf here in Terrasson nearly summing up the mood in town. Tranquille. Peut-être trop tranquille…

I miss learning Greek on Duolingo. Who wouldn’t want ouzo and a snack at the disco museum? Or a snack with ouzo. Either way.

Nothing says post-brexit demise better than London being missed off novelty t-shirts.

Little quirk of the Sonos app: search for a BBC radio station, and the first three offered are Hausa, Uzbek and Essex.

Spain is just a little different. First one at a market. Next one at a supermarket.
