Sorry but from where I’m sitting these are still the Brexit years, and the minor rapprochements with Europe we are seeing, while welcome, are not inspiring me.

Just an idea folks. Would it not make sense for Peers and MPs to undergo regular security vetting?
Costly you say? I think they could and should pay for it themselves.
After all we make doctors pay for their professional registration and exams.

I still have a lot of respect for Starmer, but his statement about Mandelson "I had no reason at the time to KNOW they were lies" is a bit of an issue.

One lesson from the Epstein–Mandelson affair is that we need to stop routinely rehabilitating political careers after serious scandals.
When politicians knowingly engage in grave ethical wrongdoing, that should permanently end their political careers. Being "talented" should not override that.
