It’s EXTREMELY unlikely. 1) Look at many recent trips by Solong below. 2) consider that it held the exact course and speed for 9 hours, and that the tanker was not exactly stationary throughout that period, as it was swinging at anchor.

Look at the course he took MANY times. Consider the fact that on this occasion course and speed were unchanged for 9 hours. Consider the fact that the tanker was swinging with wind and tide at anchor. While deliberate is not QUITE impossible, it’s highly unlikely.
