“Billionaires really like thinkers who see their exploitation of the weak as a good and natural thing. Epstein funnelled as much as $20m a year to academic men who shared his ideology. In exchange, Epstein himself, who could barely read and write, was empowered to hold forth at Harvard”

ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Every time I read a book about testing, no matter how old, all the criticism is the same, all the problems are the same.

We are living the echos of test problems past

I had an email exchange with a guy yesterday who insisted I was making a mistake not outsourcing my writing to an LLM. He said, "It knows more than you do." He couldn't understand that this was impossible because the work of writing is figuring out what "I" think.

I took that new right wing admissions test so you don't have to.

"It’s inconsistent, odd, and pseudo-scientific but it has just enough of a patina of science to let politicians who share their ideology justify its use."

From Stanford to Gallup, nearly every organization that produces good information about anything of importance is in one way or another beholden to federal contracts. They are also deeply connected to elite political and economic networks thorough interlocking directorates and affiliations.

. . . these cuts are automated—there’s not a re-vote, the governor can’t offer a stay, etc. Either the city follows the law, which includes actionable, time-bound plans to address any exempted classrooms (it’s not complicated or opaque as the article says), or they lose the money. Period. 4/8

2. He is returning to the old favorites because his support is waning

3. He dabbled with this trope before but would always leave a hair of deniability. Going straight there also seems like a sign of weakness

The billionaire class wants to decimate the white collar workforce. Because white collar workers are expensive. And because white collar workers—who historically sided with billionaires—are questioning that alliance. Which makes their knowledge and resources a huge threat to billionaire power.
