This from the latest @bylinetimes.bsky.social in an article by Mic Wright about a Spectator awards bash, where the key awards went to the most far right politicians to honour their racism & intolerance. And yet, there are Labour people attending, validating & normalising this far right publication…

🎬 The arts aren’t a luxury - they’re an export.

At #Lab25, @aiannucci.bsky.social reminds us that the UK’s Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy and 7% of our workforce - the GDP equivalent of oil + car industries combined.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Refugees are quite often a product of our arms industry - perhaps there should be a special tax on the arms industry to go towards expenses related to refugees ?

With all the money being thrown at AI nonsense, it's worth sharing an appeal from genuine hand-crafted indie animation.

One6th need help to promote & distribute this fantastic short, based on a poem by Dean Atta. Please take a look & repost.

BBC news currently has no article on this. According to organisers, it broke their own records by far and was the biggest trans rights events in the world.

Otoh the BBC does have coverage of far right anti-refugee protests which were much, much, smaller.

Whole book “translated” for $100? You get what you pay for, and if you don’t understand what makes human translators valuable, maybe you don’t value the creative work that goes into the writing process either.

No idea how much reach I'll get with this, but here goes! As I'm approaching the end of my treatment for the old 'Tiny Dancer' I'm up for getting back into the world of paid employment. I'm a long time (25yrs) stop motion animator and a keen 2d animator with some studio experience. /1

Not sure how to do this. My partner and light of 19 years, @mitzistarkweather.bsky.social has been diagnosed with metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer.

We are hopeful that modern treatment can give her many more years of changing the world.

If you’re able, we could use your help.
