2 points: (1) This is the fundamental flaw in any argument that AI will increase access to justice. It will undoubtedly increase the volume of new proceedings, but justice happens at the end of those proceedings, not just because they were initiated. (2) the inevitable result will be an AI arms race
TL;DR: Experts warn that AI tools facilitating rapid objections to planning applications could undermine the UK government's housebuilding initiatives, as a new service enables residents to voice concerns in minutes.

To sum it up, this country kidnapped a child and sent him across state lines. He’s been locked up for over a month and forced to make a life changing decision without the support of his family. A decision that results in him being sent even further away from that family.

Pretty remarkable that Judge Sommer guy, in her ruling on Oregon v. Trump extensively documented her factual findings that: (1) Federal Officials regularly testified to things in her court that were not supported by documentary evidence, giving her reason to find the testimony not credible; …

Lawyers deal with stress, burnout, and trauma more than we admit — not just in clients, but in ourselves. To many lawyers have normalized stress, disconnection, and burnout as part of the job. But it doesn’t have to be that way. 🧵 (1/9)

Most of my business involves helping law firms find efficiency in their operations.

But efficiency ≠ speed. The point is to create balanced systems that produce quality outcomes.

Due process is an intentional inefficiency in our justice system that improves the quality of its outcomes.
Trump: "The courts have all of a sudden, out of nowhere, they said, 'Maybe you have to have trials.' Trials. We're gonna have 5 million trials? It doesn't work. You wouldn't have a country left."

(The Fifth Amendment, which gives all of us due process, was ratified in 1791.)

This week I talked with Jonah Perlin from Georgetown Law about why audience and purpose are the keys to effective legal writing — and how generative AI can be a double-edged sword if you aren’t careful. AI can help — but it can't replace the wrestle.

My advice is if your law firm can't say this, get yourself a new law firm.

“Despite court order…” Bad facts make bad law, and the people in charge know it. So they are betting that nobody will stand up to say that (alleged) Venezuelan gang members are worth fighting over.

This is the most direct possible threat to the rule of law.
