Is it possible the Senate Dems are doing this because they know the Rs won’t honor the deal, so that the party in power gets 100% of the responsibility in the eyes of midterm voters when the crushing ACA hikes come through?

Hegseth attacks body fat, declares open season for war crimes, announces the purge of non-white and female personnel

Your mission? Go after your unarmed fellow citizens

This spectacle is for the type of online man-child whose idea of soldiering comes from drunken rewatches of Zach Snyder’s 300

Reminder that support for war crimes on TV was Hegseth's only qualification for the job; it's the only reason Trump knew he existed.

Secretary of War Crimes is the job he was auditioning for during his career as a drunken talking head on Fox.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

An oversize Chevy pickup, festooned with the Stars and Stripes?

Rammed through a brick wall, so that the driver can gun down people with an assault rifle and set the church afire?

It’s a perfect tableau of America in our moment, somehow

Because “Kinetic Strike” sounds way cooler than “murder”

Like how bros love the terms “ballistic” and “tactical”

Pair that with a snuff film? Goosebumps

Why is it amateur hour with the FBI search in Utah?

Because the heads of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are, quite literally, amateurs

Even if they were competent, flying out into the field to chase views and the press is nothing but a distraction for the agents working the case
From creator of 'The Wire.'
The aging, latent police reporter in me can't help put pause to remark on the unforced error of the SAC in Salt Lake's FBI field office making the unforced error of announcing they have recovered a “footwear impression.” A shout-out to toss or destroy those shoes, ASAP.

That's a detail you keep.

About this Florida vaccine story:

When they were little - 1 yr and 3 1/2 - my two older boys, who’d had all their shots, got whooping cough.

We asked their pediatrician what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been vaccinated.

“Oh, they’d have died.”

This Labor Day, ask yourself:

Who depends on my labor?
Whose do I depend on?

Never fear! Todd Blanche (former Trump personal attorney and now, inexplicably, Deputy U.S. Attorney General) is on the case!

Tom Hagen’s about to visit Frankie Pentangeli in federal lockup. He’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse

Carl Sagan predicted this. He was truly ahead of his time.

Another day of reminding everyone of Carl Sagan’s eerily accurate warning about the dangers of not being able to ask skeptical scientific questions to those in power or authority.

Are insurgents hitting ICE agents with RPGs? Is the CA National Guard taking casualties from IEDs and suicide bombers?

No? Then why in hell is a battalion of Marines headed to LA?

This ain’t Fallujah

Habemus papam

A 9th grader sitting in my class had a live feed of St Peter’s Square up on his screen. (He was supposed to be watching Romeo and Juliet)

Over his shoulder, I saw the puff of black smoke

As for the whole Blue Origin/bachelorette spat, there’s one thing I know: anyone who leaves the atmosphere atop a rocket is risking their lives.

The whole ‘lifestyle’ angle makes me grit my teeth, but what they did is more than mere tourism, if less than true space exploration.

I figured that this regime might kill me over the long haul. You know: air pollution, climate change, toxic chemical spills, bacteria-laced meat in the supermarket, mass shooters, preventable viruses, that kind of thing.

But they may get me in July, the next time I travel by plane
